The stay at Sunlight Mountain Inn was incredible. I couldn't get enough of the views of the ski hill and the surrounding mountains, the beautiful hiking trails and the gorgeous little creek that runs through the back yard. Having a public kitchen where you can store your food and a stove where you can make your own meals was very nice. They also have a nice bar area where residents can use. Final positive note: The staff are INCREDIBLY friendly and nice, if you have any questions they are more than willing to help. Only warning I give is that some areas of the deck were in poor repair and the rooms were small and rustic in nature, so if you are looking for a fancy hotel, this may NOT be the place for you.
Great little place for a piece of mountain quiet and relaxation.
Except a memorable experience at this hidden gem tucked away next to Fourmile Creek.
This rustic lodge is more of a home than a fancy hotel. I feel comfortable here. It’s quite from city sounds and loud with nature. The creek is literally 10 yards or so from the window. For the price you can’t beat the sound of the creek raging and birds chirping in the morning.
It felt like a retreat with like minded people with interest similar to me. Everyone I met there was into outdoors, yoga, self help, and had very interesting views on life.
There’s a campfire pit where we enjoyed s’mores at night, silly puppies running around, and a spot to take an ice bath in the creek! I was fortunate to be there one night when Pedro was cooking a Mexican feast. He offered me food and it was the best Mexican food I’ve had since Playa. I gave him $20 for the food and he didn’t want to take it, but I insisted.
Hopefully you have an amazing experience like I had. Definitely will suggest to friends and family!!
The Sunlight Mountain Inn is a throwback to European styled lodges. Has the feeling of community participation. Wood burning fireplaces, various kinds of western art and memorabilia. Nice sized games room with a pool table and a bar. Live music set up in there as well. Lots of couches and hang out places in the lodge as well. Large outdoor area for summer use that includes a volleyball court, horseshoe pit, lawn area and a gazebo with wooden chairs and table. Sits right at the base of the ski mountain too. Very different vibe from 60 miles up valley to Aspen. Takes about 25 to 30 minutes to drive there from the east side of Glenwood Springs.
Fun night of music in a peaceful, gorgeous setting
