My experience at Surfing Colors in Fuerteventura was unfortunately disappointing; mainly due to the extremely poor cleaning service and the generally worn-out condition of the furnishings.
Yes, there is an option to skip the cleaning service to be more eco-conscious, which is fine in principle. But I specifically paid for cleaning, expecting at least a minimum standard. What wasn’t clearly stated during booking, and only revealed at check-in, is that the service only takes place every two days, with linen changed every four. But let me be clear: the quality of the service is where things truly fall apart.
The room was never properly cleaned. The floor was not vacuumed even once, my hair remained on the floor for the entire stay. I found crumbs behind the door, and they were still there after the so-called cleaning. The bathroom was not cleaned at all, only the towels were replaced and bins emptied. Honestly, that’s not a cleaning service, it’s barely maintenance, and certainly not something that justifies an additional charge.
The hotel tries to justify this under the guise of being "eco-friendly" (as written on the rule sheet at check-in), but there’s a big difference between being sustainable and being careless. This felt like a convenient excuse for neglect.
On top of that, the condition of the furnishings left a lot to be desired. The silicone around the shower was moldy and deteriorating. The sofa was stained and visibly dirty, and the plastic table on the balcony was also stained and poorly maintained. These details matter, and they make a difference in how comfortable and welcome you feel as a guest.
To be fair, the pool is a nice feature, definitely one of the highlights of the property. But let’s be honest: there are many other hotels in the area with equally nice pools.
One last note: the website provides no clear explanation of what the cleaning service actually includes, and even if it’s there somewhere, it’s not easily accessible. It feels intentionally vague.
I would not return to this hotel unless they improve their standards and start being honest about what they offer, and what they don’t.
The breakfast, which costs €14 per person, was actually very good and tasty, no complaints about the quality itself. However, I don’t feel it justifies the price.
Stayed for 10 nights, will definitely stay again. Very clean, lovely pool area, no sunbed hogging. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Close to a good supermarket and not too far away from music square and the harbour.
The staff is incredibly friendly and welcoming, making the whole experience even more enjoyable. The location is perfect—close to everything you need, and the newly added rooftop area is a great touch, offering beautiful views and a relaxing atmosphere. The pool bar is a highlight, with delicious food and a great selection of drinks. Plus, there were plenty of parking spots available right in front of the hotel, which made things super convenient.

We stayed here early April as family of 4. The service is great! The receptionists are always ready to help and provide more with a very polite approach. The staff always greets you and the ladies work in the restaurant are simply amazing! I don’t know who they smile every morning to each single person entering the restaurant and serving them by saying thank you, but they do a great job! We really appreciate that. Regarding rooms, it is clean and well equipped (kettle, microwave, cutlery, small fridge, table with 3-4 chairs, convertible sofa bed etc). It’s not a luxury place or comfort level staying but you have all you need at budget so it’s a great value and provides you what you exactly paid for. There is no air conditioner in the room but the bed room has air fan and it was enough during our stay as the wind does the same job while leaving the balcony doors open. Balconies are really narrow so it’s difficult to move from one side to another but it has two chairs and a table, mop and bucket, and a very small cloth hanger. Cleaning service is not included in our reservation and we have been told that it is 35€ which we found pricey comparing the night stand cost however they provide clean towels and bedsheets. It is possible to handle in a short stay without cleaning service and I guess they don’t charge for cleaning when checked out. There is a small outdoor playground for kids and kid pool next to the big pool. Not sure if the pools were heated but we always go there late afternoon when it’s very sunny. They provide free drink water -which is a life saver! The lift was really old and strange in the main building -mostly smelly inside and works floor-by-floor so if you are in with another person who leaves before you, you need to press your floor number again. We got used to that a few days later. Wardrobes in the room is old and wall-in style which we found stylish but not very useful. The bathroom area has no air fan or circulation so that we needed to leave room door and balcony door open sometimes to dry out and clean the air. The terrace or roof floor in next building is really nice, worth of checking or hanging sometimes. The breakfast is tasty but boring as they repeat the same menu everyday. We notice only French toast and pancakes or waffles are changing some days as the rest remains the same but it’s tasty and worry if including to your stay. The place is not very family friendly as we notice lots of younger ones/teenagers around but it might timing thing. The location is just great since everywhere is at the walking distance and it is easy to find a parking place around. Considering all positive things and couple of missing things, it is 4 out of 5 star but we may not consider next time as housekeeping should be included and not be charged that high -especially for families and also, the breakfast menu to be more attractive. We are thankful for the staffs’ help and great hospitality.
We stayed in an apartment. It was so lovely and clean. Great beds! Basic but everything you need. Pool area very clean and heated. Only issue, pool is not sloped and rather deep. Baby pool not heated. Life Guard is so lovely. Very friendly. Pool bar is very nice and food delicious 😋 Staff here are so helpful. Disappointed with the size of balcony and charge for cleaning. Had to change the sheets ourselves. Great location. Direct on the coast. 5 mins walk to Music square and 10 mins to center. 5km walk to the Sand dunes which is a must. Loved our stay and would definitely return.
Great place! City center is 5/10 min walk there are surfshops and such nearby. Also supermarkets as spar and hyperdino. I found out the last night there was a really nice roof terrace at the other building. There are washing machines and dryers near the swirly stairs wich came in handy as i forgot to pack properly. There is a nice pool (i guess did not try) good value for a nice clean place. Helpfull staff at reception can help with things like renting boards and whatever. Did not try the breakfast but i guess its nice. (Only had some snacks from the bar/snack afternoon menu) there is a sort of office for people who work remotely wich looked nice and quiet for those who need that. Closeby is a fantastic chinese shop (idk but its a spain thing) store thas has everything. Flipflops hair elastics sunglasses .
We really enjoyed our stay at Surfing Colors. The rooms were comfortable and clean. The only thing it lacked were teas and coffees, even though the kettle and cups and coffee machine are provided.
Plenty of activities throughout the week, including free yoga 🧘♀️
The staff were all very friendly and helpful. We will definitely be returning 🥰
