This Hotel offers a great location, making it convenient for your needs. The rooms are meticulously cleaned, ensuring a comfortable stay. The manager is exceptionally friendly and always ready to assist with anything you may need, providing excellent service and care.
We stayed here before when it was still the Sheung Wan by Ovolo - and really liked it. Unfortunately, the recent rebranding to Dash Living changed the overall experience a lot. Service is virtually nonexistent and staff hardly present - if they are, they’re not interested. There’s no housekeeping apart from emptying your one tiny trash bin. Not even towels to dry your hands.. only one large towel per person. One of the two elevators was out of order for several hours each day. Location can’t be beat as it’s in a great area and walkable to the MTR. Rooms are small but we‘re in HK a lot and know what to expect. Still, we probably won’t be returning here.
Needed a small tube of toothpaste urgently (at midnight) as I didn’t realise it wasn’t included in the basic amenities. The faq page mentioned that a dental kit could be purchased at the counter for 5 HKD. However, when I approached the staff (a lady of African descent) to ask if they had toothpaste, she looked at me as if it was her first time hearing the word “toothpaste” and kind of mocked me. Told me that there was no toothpaste, only toothbrushes, and proceeded to ask me to try a 7-11. I asked her where’s the nearest 7-11 and she didn’t even bother googling for me. Instead, she just repeated herself extremely rudely, “Do you know, 7-11? the convenience store?” (Of course I do, who doesn’t??) Left an extremely bad taste in my mouth (quite literally). I ended roaming the streets and went to three outlets which had no toothpaste in stock. What kind of hotel doesn’t stock toothpaste???
Only 2 redeeming features were day staff and walkable to MTR. Night staff - so rude and surly! Same 2 staff each night during my stay. Large group of us travelling so we’d often hang out in the communal area on level 3 after each day of activities. Both staff would use their shift to sleep! I understand night shifts can be tiring but to be so fully asleep that we, as guests, we have to open the door to new arrivals is a joke. Even when we let people in, they’d wake up the staff for them to tut back in annoyance. They would not speak a single word and simply point guests to a tablet to speak to someone online. In one instance, the male staff member on nights was visibly annoyed that our group was keeping him awake. He left the desk, for an hour! Again, we had to let guests in but didn’t know where he was. Turns out, he’d locked the toilet and was inside sleeping!! (Have photos of them sleeping, we made it a running joke each night that we’d become door staff). Room - I expect a small room in HK as space is at a premium but wow, small! I’d already booked a superior queen room but concierge announced they’d upgraded me…to a superior queen room?! Double bed had no space to get to the far side and there was no storage so we were falling over suitcases. 1 leg of the bed was broken on arrival, it was fixed to then break again. Fridge was under the countertop in the room but under so far you had to get on your hands and knees to reach it. The door also opened the wrong way to where it was placed. Shower had clearly leaked into the main room as there was mould around that part of the wall. There was also an open light in the shower with no protection. Cleaning - aware that English may not be the first language or staff may not speak English at all but when they knock and you say no, perhaps come back? No, they walk in regardless. In one case, I was half naked about to shower! They just smiled and continued to clean around us, ushering us to leave! General facilities - ground floor always open at all hours yet door locked on level 3 where the communal area and check in were situated. Referring back to night staff always asleep, if our group wasn’t there, there was no way of getting in. On one day, the lifts were out of order for the afternoon. I understand faults can happen but, lot of stairs to climb and when we did, each set of stairs going up each level were covered in dust and more importantly, used as storage so you had to squeeze up sideways. Total fire hazard! I visit HK regularly, doubt I’d stay at this hotel again.
False Advertising and even though I turned up they won’t refund me as “no show”!!?? The pictures of their rooms on their and booking.com site are absolutely not like the reality. It’s a jail size hostel. Not for humans. I arrived from my flight and fell into tears due to being sick and when taken to my room that looked like a prison cell (their staff is witness who kindly helped me) I was absolutely devastated. The reception said she would not charge me, waited with me till I found an alternative place to stay while throwing up. They want to compensate me with a free nights stay??! No common sense!! Never stay there… my battle continues with them and I’ve seen terrible similar reviews from other guests!
Love the location! The room looked nice and clean. Would definitely come back again!
Stayed here for 2 nights. I had a wonderful stay at this hotel. The staff was incredibly friendly and always willing to help. The rooms were clean and well-maintained. The location is excellent—very lively with plenty of food options, both local and western. It’s also very close to the MTR, making it easy to get around the city. Highly recommend!
