As a digital nomad, I lived in Indie Studio for 2 months, kept travelling and decided to return other 2 months! Thats how much I like this place. Is one of the few colivings that have private bathroom+bed+kitchen (all of them inside your room). Part of the magic is to get to know other people in the building so depending on your cohort, you'll get to know different people from different backgrounds.
I absolutely love this place. Great atmosphere, great location, great people. Both staff and residents. The best place ever to begin your journey in Medellín.
During my stay, service and reception staff were amazing. But the building didn't have internet for 3 weeks in my room, my first room leaked when it rained heavy, shower wouldn't drain. In my second room, we didn't have hot waters for 3-4 days in a row, and cold water was cloudy (but drinkable). The building has a great community, and it's a great social place. But the building is in boarder-line disrepair.
I have stayed here in the past throughout 2023 and it was a good experience. This trip has been anything but good. If you remotely work, study or think you will sleep this is not your location. The music at night is not as loud compared to the main avenue, but still goes well into the night. Having your windows open to circulate air (No AC) will cause louder music/ sounds. The construction next door is unbearable and starts around 6 to 630am so even when you are able to go to sleep after music quiets between 12-4am depending on night of the week. You will get little to no sleep. The construction goes until the clubs start so 2-6 hours of sleep should be expected. There was no warning that construction is happening so early in the morning going into the night. I hope this review helps provide clarity for those who seek a semi-quiet atmosphere or need one for work. Side note: Noise cancelling headphones will not help given construction is right outside your window.
First of all, I want to say that the staff was super nice all the time and I know it's not their fault. But to sell this place as coliving is really a cheek. There are two internet accesses, one is the general wifi which has a maximum speed of about 15Mbit and the private wifi for each room which sometimes even makes it to 25Mbit. I came here because I work online and need good internet. If you want to make video calls or watch videos, the wifi is useless. At least they offered me to use the coworking space in their other building, but such slow wifi in a coliving space that is made for people to work there is really not possible. What's more, the building is being extended. The construction work starts around 7 am and lasts until the evening, every day really. It's impossible to concentrate, even with noise-canceling headphones. Then there's the music from the clubs on 70, which usually goes on until 4am and can be heard even with the windows closed. My room was clean (except for two pieces of old chewing gum on the ceiling and the balcony railing, which nobody removed), but the kitchen is very poorly equipped. Only one hob worked properly, the fridge froze everything I put in there. And finally, I had expected a socializing place where I could connect with others and events would take place, as stated in the description. The roof terrace was closed for half of my stay, as were the washing machines. Not a single event took place, the coworking space is right next to the construction site and was unusable due to the noise. I met people in the elevator twice, otherwise it was empty and the other people seemed to have done the right thing and avoided this place. I'm sorry my review is so negative but I really can't recommend it to anyone. And all for a high price + money for coworking spaces and cafes, because working in my apartment was really impossible. For the price, you can definitely get much better apartments in Medellín.
