🏨 has short staysFine for a workation, but significant turnover works against coliving principles for a cohesive community; a longer minimum stay supports better interactions. What is coliving?🤷 ranks poorlyAs a 'coliving' this space likely doesn't meet expectations — yet may be acceptable if you're not expecting too much. (If we're wrong please let us know!)
Here you will find a community of people who need to work remotely, but like to incorporate the ocean and surfing into their daily routine. Folks who stay here like to travel a little slower, take the time to get to know the local community and enjoy a healthy, balanced way of living.
The Coliving House is designed with various nooks and spaces over 5 levels that each have a different atmosphere and feel - from cosy private work spaces to open, sun-filled communal areas. It’s your choice how communal you want to work and live. You can expect a quiet, peaceful and inspiring environment where you will be able to focus on your work, adventure with friends and relax!

I’ve had the pleasure of staying at JBay Co-living twice over the past few years, and I’d go back tomorrow if I could! I completely fell in love with living there. It’s the ultimate dream for anyone wanting to balance remote work and surfing - totally relaxing, yet such an inspiring and productive space. There’s a spacious work area right at home, plus a world-class co-working space just down the road (and bikes to get you there!).
The house itself is thoughtfully created and beautifully decorated by local artists and artisans. The views are breathtaking and the atmosphere is pure soul food. Everything is carefully considered, from hot morning coffee to the veggie garden and delicious house dinners. Michael and Karen, please start a food business—you’d be amazing at it! The care, quality and kindness from Karin, Michael, Paula, Steffi & Thuba, is top tier. The only negative is having to leave. I always feel so at home here, and I hope to come back asap. Missing you all! Amy x
I loved saying in the coliving. I'm an interior designer myself and I absolutely loved how they designed the area's. There was plenty of space in- and outside to work and chill. The kitchen is beautiful and functional. There are free bikes to go around and to bike to town. The beach and shops on walking distance.
This is a very special house. If you are looking for a place where you feel at
home, welcomed and where you can spend your time with a great community, I totally recommend going there.
The hosts are making this house a very special place with weekly get togethers as well as with their warm personalities and character.
I had two awesome months there and definitely will come
Back. Best place in Jbay to be!
If you’re looking for a space where you’ll feel at home from day one, this is it.
With the best views in town, Jeffrey’s Bay is perfect for slow travelers. There’s not a huge amount happening, but that’s exactly what makes it special—you settle into a unique sense of calm quickly, and the people you meet become the highlight of your stay.
And this is really what sets this place apart for me. It truly feels like you’re stepping into a tight-knit community—a family almost—the moment you walk through the door.
A big thanks to Henku and Steffi for the great chats, Michael for being the best guardian of the space, and Karin for being the heart of the house—you all made this stay real memorable.
I spent two weeks at JBay Coliving and it was my best coliving experience!
The house is stunning with ocean views and dolphins passing by every morning !
The rooms are beautiful and the atmosphere is amazing. Perfect for working and socializing.
Thank you to Karin and Steffi for their welcome, I’ll definitely be back 🌞🐬
I had a wonderful month at JBay coliving! Michael, Karin and Paula are amazing hosts making sure each guest feels at home. Always available to give a ride, bring you to adventures in the wild or a nice brunch in cute towns nearby. The house is breathtaking, big, with a gorgeous ocean view. Same for the rooms. You're minutes away by walk to Supertubes, a worldwide renowned surf spot (for very good surfers, but it's a beautiful spot to watch them with your coffee). You also have free access to the Green room, a coworking space (15 minutes by provided bike from the house) where locals and remote workers have a space to work, chat, and even shower after a surf session (a beginner/intermediate spot is right in front of the coworking, so very ideal to surf some waves between calls). I really recommend staying at Jbay coliving if you like nature and surfing. You'll find a great community and a great vibe. Not very suited for people who like to party hard (as the town is literally dead after 9pm) but very good to unwind, surf and live a slow life. The area is also amazing, you can visit a part of the garden road, Addo elephant park, Schotia game reserve, Tsisikama and a lot more... Loved the free yoga class twice a week!
In one word: incredible. Stay here, you will not regret it!
I was lucky enough to stay at Jbay coliving two times, once in september & october and once in april & may. Both stays were the amazing. The house has everything you need (and more). The best views, spacious bedrooms with private bathrooms, a clean kitchen, lovely hosts that can tell you everything you'd like to know about jbay, surfboard storage, a coworking space in the house and an office where you get to work with the locals in town, free bikes, free communal dinners and the best people.
Absolute recommendation: the sunrise from the sundeck is spectacular.
Oh and the surf is great too.
Special thanks to Michael, Karen, Steffi & Thuba.
