Leveli is the perfect place to stay if you're working remotely. The café and coworking space made it super easy to get work done without needing to leave the hostel. Plus, the location in Colonia Americana is super close to great restaurants, bars, and cultural activites (museums, art galleries, etc). Definitely recommend it if you're a digital nomad or just want a cool place to stay in Guadalajara!
Excellent place to stay. Would definitely recommend to anyone who is looking to visit the city be it pleasure or work. They have excellent hosts and volunteers and the facilities are marvelous. It's clean and pocket-friendly . Definitely going back here
We booked this hostel based on strong reviews across Google and Hostelworld. Unfortunately, our experience didn’t live up to the expectations. While the location is convenient and the open garden space has potential, maintenance is clearly lacking — like when a chair broke under a guest and the only response from staff was, "That's okay, just add it to the pile of broken brown chairs over there," with no concern for their well-being. Cleanliness and customer service were major letdowns. The lobby seating had questionable stains, the ping pong paddles were sticky, and the hammocks didn’t feel hygienic. When we arrived at our room, it was hot and stuffy. The reception told us the AC wouldn’t turn on until 9 PM. When we asked for an extra fan, we were initially told there were none — until we pointed out an unused one in the lobby, and after an awkward silence, they reluctantly gave it to us. My bunk space hadn't been cleaned — I found an eaten lollipop and wrapper in my bed. After a long trip, I was too exhausted to complain, but it set the tone. The washrooms were even worse: strong odors, poor ventilation, and overall unsafe conditions. On a positive note, the kitchen was functional (though always busy), the quiet work area was helpful, and the fellow travelers we met were great. Overall: Great location, wonderful guests — but serious issues with cleanliness, maintenance, and customer care make it hard for me to recommend staying here.
Excellent location. Located between and in walking distance to both Chapultapec party street and the historic centre. Staff was amazing and very friendly. Great for digital nomads. Kitchen is designed. Beds are comfy and come all the amenities you'd expect. I would definitely stay here again when in Guadalajara.
I stayed here for three nights, extended for four more, and almost immediately regretted it. I ended up asking for my money back and leaving after those initial three nights. I HATE this hostel. The energy is dark, almost oppressive, and the so-called “volunteers” running it act more like a high school mean-girl clique than staff. This place is in desperate need of real management and oversight. I’ve stayed in plenty of hostels, and I have never encountered such unprofessional, condescending customer service. Even something as simple as extending my stay turned into a headache. When I asked for clarification about the rate, I was spoken to as if I were illiterate. Genia, in particular, is repulsive. Condescending, rude, and frankly, I wouldn’t be surprised if she’s racist. Every interaction with her required me to dig deep for patience and grace. Then there’s the so-called “manager,” who remains nameless to me because his attitude was so off-putting I had no desire to engage with him. Constant eye-rolling, bad energy—if he were any less welcoming, he’d be a brick wall. And then there’s Elloise, the sneaky little maid who stays quiet but gossips like it’s her full-time job. This place doesn’t feel like a hostel; it feels like their personal clubhouse. From the smoking area to the kitchen, they’ve marked their territory, making it clear that guests are an afterthought. The entire staff culture is built on dismissiveness and favoritism, except for Lydia and Karla. They were the only two who showed an ounce of professionalism or kindness. If the rest of the team put as much effort into hospitality as they do into gatekeeping their little social circle, this place might actually be decent. The communal kitchen is great—except for the fact that PEOPLE STEAL YOUR FOOD. Labeling doesn’t help; if it looks good, it’s gone. This happened to me, and it was my final straw. I went to reception, demanded a refund, and check out the next day. The last insult came on my departure day. I had perishable groceries and asked if I could leave them in the fridge until 2:30 PM, as my next check-in wasn’t until 3 PM. I left at 10 AM to explore and returned at 2 PM to find that someone had removed my entire bag of food and left it out on the counter for hours. My things were nearly room temperature and ruined. When I asked Genia if she knew who did it, she offered no support—just indifference. That was the second day in a row someone tampered with my things, and I was understandably upset. Instead of acknowledging the issue or even pretending to care, Genia accused me of throwing a tantrum, then shut the door in my face. A heated argument followed, and only Karla—who actually listened—attempted to resolve things. She reimbursed me for my groceries, and we threw them out together. As I stood outside waiting for my ride, I listened as they changed the door code—as if I were the threat, not the thieves and bullies in the house. And that’s really the heart of the issue here: the social atmosphere is tainted by the staff. Their behavior sets the tone, and it’s one of exclusion, pettiness, and discomfort. Add in one particularly insufferable guest, and the entire vibe was unbearable. I couldn’t tolerate the hostility any longer. I won’t outright say don’t stay here, but if you do: • Put on your assertive hat. • Safeguard your belongings. • Don’t get too friendly with the staff. • And if you’re a Black female traveler… proceed with caution. This is my fourth hostel in Mexico, and I have never felt this type of energy before. Wouldn’t return.
Spectacularly clean, comfortable and with a friendly staff. The kitchen is equipped, spacious, and available for use 24/7; for digital nomads, in particular, this is a winning feature. I recommend this hostel to you.
I had an incredible time at this hostel! The staff were so friendly and accommodating, and the location was fantastic! Make this your next stay in GDL
