From the moment I walked into this place till I left the staff have been amazing. Any issue I had was resolved. From the check in to needing an extension on my stay and accommodating me. Really big shot out to all the staff. Won't be just the shrines I return to fukuoka for. Tip go to the rooftop bar the view is amazing and they have warm blankets when its cold out.
I loved the design and atmosphere of this hotel; stylish, cozy, and very welcoming.
The service was excellent and the staff were consistently friendly and helpful.
My room was on the smaller side, but it had everything I needed and was thoughtfully arranged.
There’s also a wine and liquor shop on the first floor that looked really interesting, though I didn’t get the chance to try it.
First, I'd like to say all staff was very nice and polite.
My biggest issue with Lyf Tenjin stands with the room. I know it would be quite small, it was fine. However I was disappointed with the view of my room; it faces closely with an appartment building, and left no intimacy. I had to shut the blind at all time.
But it was okay compared to the noise and light inside the room. I had read comments about the move detector light and thought it was no big deal; it was. It took too long to turn off, which is annoying when you just went to the bathroom and want to go back to sleep. There's also a light on the bottom of the wall that stays on when all lights are off. Why?! 🥲 I just put my bag in front of it to hide it.
The vent in the bathroom also stays on all the time, day and night, so you have to sleep with this loud blowing noise.
I rarely had so much trouble sleeping in a hotel honestly.
It did look nice though, cool common area.
The good:
- Prime location near central Fukuoka
- Clean facilities and hotel in good condition
- Helpful English speaking staff
- AC works great
- Self-service amenities was convenient
The bad:
- Rooms are very small
- Had to go multiple times to the laundry area to wash my clothes as the machines were in-use most of the time.
Overall, good experience, but don't go if room size is a concern
I should have paid more attention to the reviews as many guests warned about the room size, and they were absolutely right. The room is extremely small, to the point where it’s impossible to open luggage comfortably. This is not a 4-star hotel experience; it feels more like a trendy hostel with cramped quarters.
The only positive was the front desk staff, who were genuinely friendly and helpful during check-in. However, no amount of hospitality makes up for the lack of space. If you value room comfort, look elsewhere—this was a disappointing stay."
I hate to have to give this review, but it has to be done.
This is not a four star hotel, to even suggest this consciously is egregious.
It’s a lukewarm three star, that’s maybe even just a two star hotel.
I would’ve given this hotel a significantly higher rating if the management had been honest about things, because it’s really quite an alright accommodation. But dishonesty is not appreciated, especially when they have the gall to call this a four star.
The only positive was the staff, who were kind and well mannered.
There’s no fridge in your room—you have to rely on three communal ones on the third floor, one of which reeks.
When you need anything, the single phone on your floor is your only option, so if you forget your key, you’re locked out.
The pride flag was also everywhere. A very woke establishment.
The only upsides are the great location and acceptable cleanliness.
