This Place is sooo beautiful! Camila was so friendly and offered very nice activities. It was easy to get in touch with other people.
Unfortunately our room was not very clean/no toilet paper for a long time. The shelf in my bed was fixed in an inappropriate way without telling me and then leaving the shelf open with all my belongings inside without letting me know. In the end money was stolen… bad experience. The receptionist was not feeling sorry or responsible for this :(
A very cool hostel, cozy area around the pool, nice vibe and the staff, especially Camila, was lovely! Thank you for everything, we really enjoyed our time and the group activities here!! 😌
Lovely staff, great location and the pool is lovely.
Today we did social volleyball led by Camila and everyone had a great time. Only downside is you’re not aloud to dive or do phat manus in the pool, still fun though
Perfect hostel in a great location. The staff working the front Pamela and Pedro were so kind and helpful. They are great at their job and were so friendly. Thanks Pamela and Pedro, I highly recommend staying in this Selina
This is a great hostel and I really enjoyed my stay here.
The girls on reception, Pamela and Aurelia (I think we’re their names), we’re really helpful and very quick at resolving the numerous issues I came to them with. Thanks a lot for making it a great experience staying with you
My recent stay at Selina Hostel left much to be desired, with numerous issues detracting from what should have been a pleasant experience. It became clear that SELINA capitalizes on selling an image and values that appeal to social media admiration, yet the actual experience falls far short of the price tag.
Out of the four breakfast options one was unavailable for our entire stay and portions are way too small. And apparently if you miss the narrow breakfast window until 9.30am (even on weekends), you'll be charged for it. This, coupled with the lack of fruit options, makes the breakfast add-on not worth the additional cost.
The air conditioning in our room did not only drip onto our bed every night, but it occasionally turned into a stream of water. The staff's solution? Merely handing us an extra towel. Combined with the absence of hot water in the evenings and poor air circulation, these issues contributed to a pervasive musty odor throughout the room.
During our stay, the WiFi was down for several hours one evening. When we brought this to the staff's attention, they offered no solution, merely acknowledging the issue. Reliable internet is essential for many travelers, particularly if you work remotely.
The sun chairs around the pool and outdoor area were not complimentary but required an additional fee which is pretty ridiculous, especially considering the hostel's premium branding. Additionally, the consistent lack of drinking water in both the coworking space and the common kitchen added unnecessary inconvenience to our stay.
The staff's unfriendliness, particulary of the crew at Marea bar - with the exception of a two nice guys that were in charge of breakfast - further marred our experience. Guests were often made to feel like a bother, as the staff seemed more interested in their own enjoyment rather than catering to the needs of those staying at the hostel.
One particularly concerning incident occurred when retrieving my ID, which I had provided as a deposit. Rather than verifying its authenticity, the staff allowed me to select one seemingly at random from their stash, raising serious concerns about the hostel's security protocols.
The only redeeming aspect of the hostel is its amazing pool and outdoor area. The design is stunning, evoking a tropical wonderland that provides a brief escape from the hostel's myriad shortcomings. Additionally, the community of travelers you can meet here is a great part of the experience, adding some value to the stay.
In summary, our experience at this supposed "Premium Hostel" fell far short of expectations. Selina clearly capitalizes on selling an appealing lifestyle, but the actual experience does not align with the price.
10/10 experience. Stayed in a tepee on the beach, all staff was super nice and helpful.
we especially enjoyed the yoga at the beach & the co-working space.
However, we cannot understand, the regulation regarding the free yoga lessons - If you stay in a dorm as a couple, you’ll get two vouchers a day for the yoga. But if you stay in a private room, where you pay way more money, you’ll only get one voucher?! So in total we spent 500 pesos extra for yoga classes. Would be really nice, if this regulation would be changed in the future.
