I've been living here for about a year now and my experience has been overwhelmingly positive. The obvious cons with the building are that the walls are a bit thin and the elevators break down frequently. However, administration is very open and work extremely hard to make the experience as good as possible. Compared to other buildings in the city, the community atmosphere that SHED provides is hands down THE BEST. People are always in the common areas and it is very easy to make friends because the atmosphere is so welcoming. If you want more private living with less socialization a regular apartment building may be a better fit for you. But if you are a student or young professional new to Krakow and want to live in a vibrant building with great common areas and a solid gym, SHED is the best option in Krakow. It's not a perfect building but easily one of the best living experiences I've ever had. If you see the building for yourself you will understand what I mean. PS, many of the negative reviews you see are from a disgruntled couple who were asked to leave the building because they caused many conflicts with administration and other tenants (including me). They making a bunch of fake accounts to tarnish SHED's reputation, which is not deserved.
Very nice place. Located in the best area of krakow. You can just walk 20’ to the city center. Or enjoy the parks around. They are doing parties and lots of activities for the tenants so we really feel welcomed. They are always taking the recommendations we give them.
The cost of the room is excessively high compared to its size. Additionally, the elevators are not functioning properly unfortunately sometime it takes up to 9-10 minutes 😑 for one to arrive at 5th floor. However, the one positive aspect is that guests can enjoy drinks and cigarettes on the terrace
The very best dormitory in the area. Lots of amenities like a gym, cinema room, game room and more. Super friendly staff. Free self defence classes on spot is quite an upside as well, perfect for this environment. Not to even mention the piano in the common area. Can't play myself, but it's always nice hearing someone play. Noise isn't as bad as other reviews may suggest, unless you live on the legendary 5th floor. Well deserved 5* review.
This place is extremely dangerous and absolutely unsuitable for students!! At first, when you arrive, they will treat you with a smile – do not fall for this. As soon as you sign the contract, you will never see that smile again. Upon arrival, they will ask another student to give feedback about this place in front of you. The student they ask is either one of their own people or a fake person. Why fake? Because if you start living here, they will get a 400 PLN discount code. Therefore, they are forced to give false praises. I have personally witnessed this many times with my own eyes!! If you care about your mental health, this place is absolutely not for you. In this place with terrible management, you might face harassment, theft, leaks of personal data, threats directed at you, and much more. There was a security guard who secretly monitored women and took photos of them, harassing many of them! Beyond this, security guards also share your personal data with their friends and make a joke out of it for fun!! The security staff make rude gestures towards you, behave rudely, and when you ask for something, they exhale in your face with a “huuuh” sound. Your personal belongings are constantly being stolen, and they never check the cameras or inform you. In this so-called “student dormitory,” your safety has no value at all!! Because they use it as a hotel, and all kinds of people come in. (One day, two drunk men came into the conference room and started banging their heads against the window. Then they tried to steal my food. I went and spoke to the security guard, and he told me that they were hotel guests and there was nothing they could do. I’ve never been so stressed in my life.) The elevators are constantly broken, I won’t even start on that, but one time while trying to use the elevator, there was a loud noise, and a large metal piece fell on my head. I can’t even describe how I felt at that moment. I rushed to tell security, panicked, and they didn’t even react. They just said, “okay.” What does “okay” even mean? And they enter your room without notifying you!! They don’t care if you are undressed or in any compromising situation!! They don’t even apologize for it. This happened multiple times. Many people were subjected to this. Many parents send their children here just because it’s labeled a student dormitory, but they are unaware of what really happens. If you have a young daughter, please don’t do her this injustice. During my time here, my entire academic life and personal relationships were affected. I absolutely do not recommend this place to anyone.
I’ve lived at Shed for a year now and have extended my lease. Keeping in consideration that the building construction had to be completed quickly , I understand that not everything will work as it should sometimes (most recently , the elevators getting stuck, and the fire alarm going off randomly when I first moved in). That being said, anytime there was an issue with something in my studio, I was assisted right away. In my experience, the admin and security are generally extremely accommodating, tolerant and respectful. As someone who moved to Kraków on their own as an adult rather than just a student, Shed provided an amazing opportunity to meet people who I know now will be lifelong friends; to be able to walk down the hall and borrow some spices, or host small gatherings regularly was amazing. There are certainly reasons why Shed would advertise this building to be a dormitory - such as the co-working/study spaces and common kitchen, but I don’t feel it fully encompasses what is offered here. Though I will say that issues with noise from other tenants (almost always partying students on exchange) and some snags with wifi were a common complaint- having a shared groupchat with the other tenants helped show what the admin needed to prioritize in solving, and they did their best to communicate how the situation was being dealt with. Anywhere else I have lived I have never had such easy access to support and amenities. For a working single person who is quite social, but also liking the option of solitude - I do like what I have here. Especially now that the żabka opened next door, there is the added convenience where there wasn’t one when I first moved in. Rather than a complaint but more as a suggestion, AC in more parts of the building would be great as it does get quite hot in the summer. And perhaps some garbage bins on some floors so that the tenants on the higher levels do not have to go into the basement each time to drop their trash off. Thanks, Shed for the community and the great view of Błonia 🫶🏻
-crazy hot! Even with open windows it was like in hell. It is a new building, why is it without AC? How difficult is to get portable fans for the hotel section? -no hooks in the bathroom. Only one next to the sink. How to hand towels, pyjamas and other in the bathroom -how was the arrangement planned that the wardrobe door cannot open fully due to bed? -no marking on bins. How to segregate? Just some colours, no info. -yes it is new, but seems was done fast without really thinking about short-term guests
