I’ve lived at Shed for a year now and have extended my lease. Keeping in consideration that the building construction had to be completed quickly , I understand that not everything will work as it should sometimes (most recently , the elevators getting stuck, and the fire alarm going off randomly when I first moved in). That being said, anytime there was an issue with something in my studio, I was assisted right away. In my experience, the admin and security are generally extremely accommodating, tolerant and respectful. As someone who moved to Kraków on their own as an adult rather than just a student, Shed provided an amazing opportunity to meet people who I know now will be lifelong friends; to be able to walk down the hall and borrow some spices, or host small gatherings regularly was amazing. There are certainly reasons why Shed would advertise this building to be a dormitory - such as the co-working/study spaces and common kitchen, but I don’t feel it fully encompasses what is offered here. Though I will say that issues with noise from other tenants (almost always partying students on exchange) and some snags with wifi were a common complaint- having a shared groupchat with the other tenants helped show what the admin needed to prioritize in solving, and they did their best to communicate how the situation was being dealt with. Anywhere else I have lived I have never had such easy access to support and amenities. For a working single person who is quite social, but also liking the option of solitude - I do like what I have here. Especially now that the żabka opened next door, there is the added convenience where there wasn’t one when I first moved in. Rather than a complaint but more as a suggestion, AC in more parts of the building would be great as it does get quite hot in the summer. And perhaps some garbage bins on some floors so that the tenants on the higher levels do not have to go into the basement each time to drop their trash off. Thanks, Shed for the community and the great view of Błonia 🫶🏻
-crazy hot! Even with open windows it was like in hell. It is a new building, why is it without AC? How difficult is to get portable fans for the hotel section? -no hooks in the bathroom. Only one next to the sink. How to hand towels, pyjamas and other in the bathroom -how was the arrangement planned that the wardrobe door cannot open fully due to bed? -no marking on bins. How to segregate? Just some colours, no info. -yes it is new, but seems was done fast without really thinking about short-term guests
Idiotic desorienting gigacomplex with mostly non functioning elevators. The doors from staircase to the outside are locked even though you have the card key, so you have to walk all the way to reception to get out. Room for two people is a room accommodated for one person with 120cm wide bed. Room is very dusty. They don't even put pillow cases on the pillows. Very noisy and hard to rest in.
The room is nice enough, despite being in an idiotic huge complex closed from all sides except for one, which makes you walk around 2 more hotels to go anywhere. Our main problem with the room is that we have reported right after arrival on Aug 14 that our shower didn't drain. They told us yesterday that today a person will come and fix it. The whole day goes by and I ask at reception again. It is a bank holiday and no one can come over. Seriously? A hotel with 1,000 rooms and they're not able to have someone on duty to fix issues because it's a bank holiday? This is a hotel, or tries to be one... The solution given is that we move to a different room. When I tell the staff we're not packing everything and simply would appreciate a showering alternative, in a different room or elsewhere, they shrug their shoulders. Please start employing people who understand customer service. Your ratings will automatically go up, as should be expected with a freaking new complex with all services, except the human ones. Good luck with that.
I wasn’t going to write this review, but I honestly feel the need to share my experience. I’m only giving this place 3 stars because of Paulina, the Deputy Accommodation Manager. Without her, it would’ve been a solid 1-star experience. Her kindness, understanding, and empathy were the only reasons I didn't lose my sanity. Her exceptional dedication and tireless efforts to assist residents truly stand out. Despite Paulina’s heroic efforts, living here has been an absolute nightmare from start to finish for me. First and foremost, the building rules are never enforced, except when it comes to petty issues like making sure residents don’t leave their shoes out. It's astonishing that the administration cares more about shoes than the fact that a good chunk of their residents are unable to sleep due to the constant noise. It's a free-for-all, with noise and chaos at all hours. The quality of the residents is EXTREMELY questionable, and there is no privacy. A lot of residents here have no manners and no social cues. It's overcrowded, with paper-thin walls that have me accidentally learning Chinese from my neighbors. The noise is relentless day and night especially if you’re facing the front of the building, and trust me, security and administration do not take the measures they promised in the contract. This constant disruption has severely affected my work, academic performance, and mental health. The elevator situation is an absolute disgrace. There are only four elevators for almost 700 residents, and they have been consistently breaking down since the building opened. I have waited for 15-20 minutes for an elevator before and I've been stuck in them multiple times, which is not only frustrating but also dangerous. Security is, quite frankly, a joke. They seem untrained as me and a friend had issues with them releasing our private information in situations where we were in danger and asking them for help. It took an excessive amount of time to fire a security guard who made multiple women in the building uncomfortable including me. This was despite discovering he was taking pictures of girls in the gym through the security cameras. And according to others in the building he also went knocking on girls rooms with his drunk friend late at night. How this was allowed to continue for so long is beyond me, and it has made me feel unsafe in my own home. The building's amenities are woefully inadequate. The Wi-Fi barely works, which is unacceptable in this day and age. When I raised concerns about the Wi-Fi, I was met with a very hostile response from the accommodation manager, who dismissed my complaints as “public banter” on the WhatsApp group. This lack of professionalism was shocking. You also have to pay for laundry on top of the already overpriced rent. There are only two ovens for the entire building to share, which is grossly insufficient and just gross. Furthermore, the building is available on Airbnb, which is deeply uncomfortable. Random people can access our building, yet tenants are required to sign in and even pay for having guests over for longer than three days. This double standard is infuriating and unacceptable. The issue of staff walking into your room unannounced has apparently also risen again, though it did stop after a while in the beginning. To add insult to injury, the rooms are cheaply built. Do not expect much in terms of quality or comfort. I also thought the building was intended for younger people, but there are elderly residents here as well, adding to the overall mismatch of expectations. In conclusion, unless you are an Erasmus student or someone who has nothing going on in their life other than drinking and screaming in a parking lot daily, this place might not be for you. I strongly advise reconsidering before choosing to live here. My experience has been nothing short of detrimental to my well-being, and I wouldn't wish it on anyone.
The SHED dormitory is not worth the money they charge, the following reasons is why; -the staff is very young and inexperienced, some of them can be quite rude. (except Ms. Paulina, she is very professional and capable) - the security staff is very uninterested and often they are sleeping at the reception, I have had multiple situations with one security guard that were very uncomfortable. They don't enforce the curfew. -the whole unfinished modern design is horrible, the walls are not painted and the ceiling is not finished, it has very cheap furniture and the whole atmosphere in the rooms, hallways and around has prison vibes -the sound isolation in the rooms is lacking, you will hear everything your neighbors are doing all the time, the parties and the people running around. Most of the residents are very disrespectful and they leave trash in the common areas, especially the common kitchen. - Wi-Fi is weak and they often have problems with it -every room has a really loud alarm system which will go off randomly in the night and wont stop for 5 minutes (usually there is no real danger but it will go off just the same) -they advertised community spaces which are not open -the rooms for 2 people include 1 chair, you will have to pressure them to give you another one or they'll just tell you to buy one. (even though they have a dozen chairs and tables next to the reception which are unused and in their words ''for show'') -the ''couple'' room has a bed that can realistically fit one person comfortably. -other amenities such as the cinema room is also not functional, the system they have for connecting your device to the projector is very complicated and the staff has no idea how to solve the problem or help you out (since you need to reserve the cinema for a certain amount of time, you lose a lot of it trying to make it work) - since the rooms are quite small, the door of the room is located in the kitchen, there is no space separating the entrance to your room and the kitchen. Adding to this is the problem of not having a dedicated space for shoe storage. Very unhygienic. -the cooking area is very small, the electric stove is horrible for cooking anything longer than 10 minutes as it will shut down and you have to wait a while for it to work again. - certain areas around the laundry room sometimes had an smell of feces, as well as flooding in the laundry room. All in all if you are coming from a less economically developed country and have a limited budget, expect to buy pillows and a blanket since you will not receive any. Same goes for kitchen utensils and cookware. The laundry room is also something you will have to pay for. All of this is normal for a dorm, but a dorm that is this expensive it is shameful. You are better off finding roommates and sharing a flat as it will be cheaper and a lot less stressful. Especially if you come during the winter semester and you want to travel around and have money to do so. p.s. they have their own people leave positive reviews
My experience with this place was really bad, and I will give you the reasons: The room my boyfriend and I booked for one semester was a "Studio for Couples," but it was not suitable for two people at all. We were only provided with one chair, and when we asked for another, the staff told us to buy one ourselves. The bed was intended for one person, so we didn't have enough space to sleep comfortably. The walls in the room were very thin, and on one side, the wall didn't connect to the ceiling, so we could hear our neighbor all the time. Noise was a problem throughout the entire building, with people partying late and running through the halls. The induction plates in the room made it difficult to cook anything because they would turn off in the middle of cooking and display an error message. The door to our room wouldn't open on the first card swipe; we needed to swipe the card several times to unlock it. The elevator often didn't work, and the Wi-Fi in our room was horrible. The security and reception staff were young and couldn't provide us with simple information or assistance, except for Mrs. Paullina, who was polite and helpful. The building's design was poorly done and inhumane for living. There was no charm; everything was grey, black, and white, giving off prison vibes. There were so many things about this place that frustrated me every day and negatively affected my boyfriend's and my mental health. I do not recommend this place for normal people.
