I had a great stay at The Base in Berlin. The staff were incredibly friendly, welcoming, and always happy to help. The atmosphere was excellent, everything was clean and well organized, and I felt comfortable throughout my stay. I would definitely recommend it to anyone visiting Berlin.

I enjoyed my stay at The Base. It's the perfect solution for a foreigner in Germany- They offer long-term contracts with the necessary paperwork (Wohnungsgeberbestätigung) to complete your registration process (Anmeldung) which then enables you to complete further tasks like opening a local bank account. It's a perfect base (pun intended) to begin your life in Germany in that they allow payment with foreign credit card and don't require a SCHUFA score. Historically, it's been tough to get an initial foothold because of the circular requirements (can't get an apartment without a SCHUFA, won't have a SCHUFA without a bank account, can't open a bank account without a registered address) I had previously looked at other co-living offerings in Berlin prior to selecting The Base. The key differentiator for me was that they allowed me to do a 1-night trial in a long-term residence. There I had the ability to free-roam the property and explore the Co-Working, Cinema and gym at my leisure. In other words, they had confidence in their offering that I could make an informed decision for myself without being on a guided tour. The in-house maintenance team is responsive when reporting issues via ticket on their app. I appreciate there are a lot of social events organized by the staff where they try to get residents of the building to mingle. These include diverse activities spanning potluck dinners, to dance classes, art and movie nights. A key benefit (especially in Germany) is that staff is available at reception to receive packages during business hours. Normally, that is an inconvenience if you aren't home or able to redirect your package to a Packetstation. Based on some of the reviews here, I think it's important to note that the facility has 2 rental types: a short-term hotel and long term residency (up to 6 months). For the long-term residency, the services provided are outlined, but may differ from other serviced apartments. For example, you receive a number of coupons to do a self-serve linen exchange at reception vs. someone doing that service for you. Likewise, there is a light cleaning every other week. From talking with other residents, your experience can vary depending on where your apartment is located. For example, units facing the street tend to be cooler and quieter. I had a unit facing the inner courtyard - east. While this was fine in the winter, it became a challenge during the summer because without blackout curtains, there would be quite a bit of light in the room early. Likewise, being above an entrance meant I had to make a tradeoff between outside noise vs. heat when determining whether to keep the window open or closed. Contract extension is an improvement opportunity. Other co-living providers enable you to extend your contract via their app in a way that prioritizes existing residents. Here, reception controls the process. You might be placed on a waitlist or offered a spot in a different room depending on the booking situation. I was able to successfully extend my booking multiple times, but had to move out due to a lack of availability for a month or so. Overall, I enjoyed my stay and would like to return if the opportunity allows.

All in all pretty good. However, we got a?room with a defect bedroom, the drain didn’t work and there were nothing to block in the water. This resulted in a flooded apartment on our first morning! This should have been fixed before letting anyone check in to the room. We got a new room the next day, but had to wait until 15.00. I think some sort of compensation would have been in order, as this was highly inconvenient! Honestly no one should have rented out that room, it was clearly not usable. Our new room also had problems with the drain, you should really have that fixed.

Inconsistent service and overpriced for the location. Dealing with the management here was frustrating. Their internal team lacks coordination; I was given conflicting policy info over email versus what is listed online. After being told I’d be called back, I was repeatedly ghosted by the reception. The room was underwhelming for the cost—utensils were poor quality and not properly cleaned. You have to commute to get anywhere central, and for this price, you can find much better spots in the heart of the city. The co-working area is decent, but don't expect the vibrant community they advertise.

My original old review was recently removed by Base (possibly because it didn’t include the final update), so I’m rewriting it now properly. I lived there about 1.5 years ago. Unfortunately, my deposit was not returned within the promised 6 weeks after checkout. It was also quite difficult to get any clear or timely feedback from the management. When I finally received a response, I was told to wait an additional 5 business days and assured that my case was a priority. However, even after this promise, I had to wait around 10 more working days and still had not received my deposit. Only after further follow-up was the deposit finally returned. Overall, the process was stressful and frustrating due to the delays and lack of communication.

Amazing customer service! I had an issue with my booking, but the team was incredibly accommodating and solved everything very quickly and generously. Special thanks to Jessa for being such a helpful and professional contact throughout the process. I’m already impressed before even checking in. Can't wait for my stay at The Base Berlin. Highly recommended!

I recently visited for a viewing, and my first interaction at reception was disappointing. I arrived late due to a genuine calendar time zone mix-up after traveling from Portugal. When I briefly explained this, the Indian guy at the reception responded with, “I don’t see that as an excuse,” which came across as dismissive, rude, and unprofessional. I work in hospitality myself and understand the importance of punctuality, but the way this was handled lacked basic courtesy and empathy. A simple, polite explanation would have been sufficient. That said, the staff member who conducted the viewing was kind, professional, and welcoming. I rarely leave negative reviews, but front-desk interactions set the tone for the entire experience. Additional customer service training would significantly improve the overall impression.

The lack of ramps to access the reception area with luggages is a terrible oversight of the buildings design, it’s very inaccessible and I’m surprised that a such a large and established accommodation would lack such a basic amenity. Other than that, the staff are incredibly friendly and helpful and were the ones who made it an overall pleasant stay!
