The same day we were leaving, I got a message at a gas station saying that "due to unforeseen circumstances" the pool wouldn't be working for the three days we were staying, and that they would refund our money if we wanted. Since it would be very difficult to find another place for that same day, we stayed anyway. When we arrived, we saw that the reason for the unforeseen circumstances was that they were draining it for cleaning. Honestly, I think maintenance should be scheduled and this situation should be announced further in advance. I thought this was terrible. The staff isn't bad, but meh... A bit cold, they're on the computer at the front desk all day and don't move around much. There was an older gentleman who didn't understand how to access the room and they kept telling him, "It's all in the message, it's all in the message" (you access it with a code they send you via WhatsApp). Come on, man, get off the computer for a second and show him to the room so he can get in, have some patience. At the next hotel I went to, I received a very warm welcome. They showed me to my room and were very attentive to any concerns I might have. It was nothing like the Zag. Aside from the downsides, the place is nice and located in the quietest part of the peninsula. It doesn't have private parking, but there's usually space to park all along the block, and it's very safe to leave your car. There were many motorcycles, some of which weren't even locked. The town center, with restaurants and currency exchange offices, is about two blocks away, so you can easily get around on foot. The nearby Playa de los Ingleses (English Beach) is nice for drinking mate, but you can't go swimming because it's rocky. The room is small but comfortable if you're just going to sleep. It doesn't have a TV, but it does have air conditioning, and the bed is comfortable. The bathroom is small but in good condition. The shared kitchen is large and clean; everything is fine. In short, it's recommended if you don't want to spend too much and aren't too demanding, but you might encounter some unpleasant surprises.
We stayed at the hotel this week. What I can highlight about it is the location and the very nice common areas. What I would point out as needing improvement is the customer service. On the one hand, we were informed on the day we arrived that the outdoor pool would not be available due to unforeseen circumstances. On the other hand, the reception staff were distant and unhelpful. We enjoyed walking around the hotel, but I suggest improving the service, as feeling welcome makes a big difference when you arrive somewhere for the first time.
We loved our stay at this hotel, especially considering the price we paid and the fact that it was peak season. The location is excellent, close to everything, which makes everything more convenient. The staff was friendly and attentive, and the room, facing the sea, was comfortable and clean. The hotel also operates as a hostel for longer stays, but they still allow you to use the microwave and the dining area to eat at the tables, which is very practical. It has a pool and a hot tub, which was a lifesaver during the rainy days we had in January, especially since the beach water is quite cold. In short, clean, comfortable, inexpensive, and well-located. It's advisable to book in advance to secure a room facing the sea at a better price. Highly recommended! We'll be back.
The place is really lovely, from the living room and the pools to the patio—everything is perfect for relaxing. The basic room doesn't have a TV, and the bathroom is very small. It does have air conditioning and a hairdryer. Also, given the rather high price, breakfast isn't included. We decided to eat breakfast out. It's in a great location, just steps from the waterfront promenade. The staff is very friendly.
Good value for money, excellent location (5 blocks from the beach but in a restaurant district), fully equipped kitchen, coworking space, and spotless pools. The only downside is the soundproofing, but for the price, the package is more than satisfactory.
An incredible experience, excellent service, a fully functional room, a good bed, and a great shower. A multitude of spaces ready to be used, including an indoor pool, sauna, reading room, TV, and workspace. Everything was colorful, pleasant, and very enjoyable. Highly recommended.
A short but intense stay 😀 Very well located for exploring Punta del Este. Super accessible, the facilities are top-notch, the staff are friendly and prompt, and they also have many amenities. Highly recommended!
I always come back to ZAG. I like this place because: ~ Excellent location ~ Beautiful ocean views, from the room if you have one or from the common area. There's an outdoor bar where I really like to have breakfast. It also has some really good beanbag chairs. ~ Very good amenities. Outdoor pool, heated indoor pool, sauna, patio, and if you're staying more than 3 days, I understand there's also the kitchen, which I love. ~ The service from the entire staff is very good. ~ If you're looking for something relaxed but comfortable and warm, this could be your place.
