Excellent place to stay over the night or for long periods of time. Cozy, relaxed, and peaceful. People don't hold crazy parties in the rooms or dining room. All guests seem to understand this is a good place to sleep after touring the city and the staff supports this. They also have all sorts of rooms with accesible prices. Staff is also friendly, clean, discrete, and warm. You can also prepare your own meals in their very clean kitchen. Also, they have laundry service for a very affordable price.
I was really disappointed with this place - there is so much room for improvement, but it doesn't seem like staff or management is interested. Staff does not even say hello when you enter the building, and this anti-social vibe reverberates through the other guests. I felt like I was a leper during my entire stay, and was basically depressed. No social events whatsoever during my stay, the group chat is also dead. Also internet is not reliable upstairs, and there was only a half-hearted effort to fix it when I asked about it twice. The space is mixed indoor-outdoor, a bit charming but also means that some areas are unprotected from rain and mosquitos roam the entire house. Would it kill you to have some sort of tarp and a couple of citronella plants? Co-living? Co-working? Hostel? Nope. This is a guest house. Pros - clean, the beds are comfortable, and the price is decent.
We were staying with our dog 🐶 3 nights in this really amazing coliving chingon hostel and it felt like we entre to a big family while you are having your privacy when you need. The rooms are big with a lot of space, windows to have fresh air, comfortable, enough space between the rooms so you can have your privacy when you need and no one will hear your talking. And there are a lot of comun places like kitchen, different balconies, rooftop,2 floors, sofa with Netflix. Its in nice area, colonia americana that you can just walk 4 minutos and arrive to the meeting point of the free walking tour. The best? They LOVE dogs! We came with a dog and everyone was so nice to here and even she had a friend to play with and also was ok to leave her when we left the hostel for few hours. Its always very clean, nothing is miss and its boutique so only a bit of people that is nice. Most of the people there for long term and there are working spot that can be good for a nomad digital. Juan and all the 5 guys that own this place where helpful, flexible, welcoming and I really really enjoyed staying there and would love to come back again!
The co-living building itself has much potential but there is still much to be desired. Firstly, there are only 2 bathrooms for 11-12 rooms and the 3-4 people that work there. An absolute nightmare especially during peak hours. There is no freezer if you want to buy some protein or ice cream to keep for the week or longer. The building isn't secure. The electric fence doesn't work outside and the '24h video surveillance' signs are just for show. Centro near Federalismo isn't a safe area at night. Moved to Nora co-living and hotel and it's much better in every way. Would not recommend UCO and would never return. Two stars instead of one because Tee, the manager is an incredible person.
A couple thoughts and words of warning. - location is the best part about this place - the staff: the one staff member angelo made me pretty uncomfortable. Day one he tried to be friendly and relate. After asking if I could tag along to the gym because I was trying to find a good gym to get in shape he started avoiding me and staying I should not contact him directly but put requests in the group chat. Mind you I'm a lesbian. Mar was very nice up until the day I checked out. She was very aggressive about me joining group activities although I had a ton of work to do and I had to repeatedly tell her I couldn't attend. She even signed me up for an event I never confirmed I was going to. - the facilities: no air conditioning or air circulation. I had to open the door or window to try to get fresh air and ended up getting bit up every night, even before the outside window was open. There are 2 one-room shower/bathrooms- 1 upstairs and one downstairs and about 16 or so people possible. So if you need to pee or shower you have two options and several days I wasn't able to shower. Bathroom are spacious but floor will be wet after shower in toilet area for the other guests. Kitchen is adequate, however I left two dishes in the sink for 4 hours after receiving a call and was requested to remove my dishes. I was always clean but they are extremely vigilant about it being clean at all times. Someone left crumbs in the sink and a group message was sent out. The vibe: it's nice a quiet all the time if you need to work. Wifi is stable. Outside if that don't expect to live and be comfortable. One staff member asked me to play music on a blue tooth small speaker on low. The guests felt disturbed although it was not quiet hours. I tried to turn it off, he asked it be kept on. Overall as a black women of color and a member of LGBTQ community I would not recommend this place. When I had check out I got the hour mixed up and was still working 20 mins past the time. They very rudely and aggressively asked me to leave right away and moved my suitcases without me confirming and when I confronted them they just denied that's what happened instead of treating me like a guest and apologizing and addressing my concerns they mocked me by saying "would you like us to move your stuff back upstairs so you can take it back down?" Weird. Controlling. All activities are extremely bland. Many other Guests act like its weird for them to be around someone who doesnt look/act like them. It's a no. I could say more. BTW bottom shelf for storage in room was weak and not fully attached to the wall when i moved in. it came off easily and they didn't fix it until after I left. So I had almost no surface space to store my things.
Ok wow I think its safe to say I really love this place! This UCo is such a beautiful place, the house has such a natural charm. It is inviting and warm. The room where I stayed was Spacious and the beds are very comfortable. This is also a great place to work I was working from my room and the wifi is great! The staff is awesome special Shout out to Flor the manager of the house, Vic, Liz and Pancho are all super accommodating and friendly. This really is more of a Home. Will definitely repeat.
Terrible experience! I would never recommend this place to anyone! I spend 3 nights there with my boyfriend and nothing went as expected… the shower and hot water didn’t work properly, the door lock broke the first day, the windows are too old to cover the loud noises from the street, the people working there are constantly listening music and overall the room and bathroom were dirty. Besides, the internet was not good enough to work. Even though the staff try to help fixing the problems, nobody seems to really care. It may be a nice old house and the place has potential but the owner doesn’t know about hospitality. The really ruined our stay in Guadalajara. Conclusion, BETTER AVOID THIS PLACE.
