🏨 has short staysFine for a workation, but significant turnover works against coliving principles for a cohesive community; a longer minimum stay supports better interactions. What is coliving?
Work and live in a community of like-minded people in a beautiful ancient house, right in the heart of La Orotava. It is pretty hard not to love it! We’ve created a professional work environment for you next to quiet, hidden spots to rest, and communal areas to connect.

I had a great stay here in April 2025. The house is huge and is very beautiful. The kitchen and working areas are great, and the rooftop views are spectacular!
Very cool old house with interesting nooks an decor. Loved the roofdeck and the back garden area and the location is great basecamp for bicycling Teide as I was training for a tour of Fuerteventura and being in central Orotava was a treat. What made it really stand out was the friendliness and quality of the people. It was mostly a self-directed co-working experience which worked fine as conversations led to spontaneous adventures like renting motorcycles and riding up and climbing Teide @ 1:30 in the morning! Epic. The house stays cool so I will make sure to bring my own slippers next time. The Sauna is a really nice feature. Was never really crowded while I was there if anything there were fewer people working that I expected but I also worked less that I thought I would as there is so much to do on the island. The roofdeck shaded work table was a great feature - pretty much perfect. Realistically, though the hard part was saying bye to the people I met.
We had a wonderful stay at Gato Azul during Christmas time. As our airbnb was cancelled on the day we left home, we were very happy that we found Gato Azul. Ingolf quickly offered us a double room with an en-suite bathroom.
The town - La Orotava - is really cute, authentic and a great place for trips around the island.
A huge plus was our community manager. Her warm and welcoming attitude really made us feel comfy. She even offered yoga sessions on the rooftop - Amazing. Plus she organized special get togethers throughout the Christmas days.
We had luck with the people who were there this week, as we had a great group dynamic and could spend a great time together.
Con:
- the room and bathroom weren't cleaned during the week, this would have been nice.
- Some of the guests were really messy in the kitchen, to an extent where the kitchen was not clean enough to be used by anyone.
The hostel is very very nice. I „had“ to stay here twice because of an unfortunate personal situation, but it was very good.
I especially like how cool the building is. It is a very old house that feels very cosy. It has an amazing beautiful garden and a rooftop terrace from where you can see the sea.
Also the location is very good as it is right in the centre of La Orotava (at least it feels that way). Mercadona (big supermarket) is only 3 mins away and you also have two gardens next to it.
In the hostel you have tables and office chairs on mass. I had a private room both times with a table and chair in my own room. I don’t have just a laptop but a big computer and two monitors. But here I was able to work with it without a problem.
Ingolf the owner was very nice to help me setup a internet cable for my computer as I can’t use WiFi. And also the second time I was helped to get a internet cable into my room.
The house is very beautiful decorated, everything you need to live is there! Love the garden and roof terrace as well! The community is less organized.. so if you're looking for more independent stay, this will fit.
Gato Coliving is really charming, the house is very confortable and the spaces of working are good and with a lot of ligth.
Is very well located with a Mercadona just 3 minutes away.
Theres a sauna in the house (with an extra payment but still cheap if you share) and is really awesome to have the option of organizing a sauna night.
A very clean coliving and a very well equiped kitchen.
Bad things for me are the following:
-There are not female shared rooms and not all the guests are digital nomads, so if you shared the room maybe you will share with travelers/tourists and theres a risk you cannot sleep well, avoid sharing room in any case.
-Breakfast is only cereals, should be good have at least yoghurt or fruit to put the cereals there.
-In winter the house is very cold.
-You have to paid extra for almost everything like the screen in the coworking or even if you ask for a mouse in case you forgot it fo example.
-It will be nice to have more activities organized by the coliving and not by ourselves, yoga clases or monday dinners never ocurred during my stay.
Coliving and Coworking with a lot of charm!
Magical house with a lot of details in the beautiful historical part of La Orotava. 2X fully equipped kitchen, high quality bed, different spaces to work, lush garden (we could grab fresh citrus fruites directly from the trees), great rooftop with a stunning 360° view to the mountains, the iconic Orotava Valley and the coast (where the sun sets).
Thanks to the very helpful and constructive owner family.
