I stayed at Kotori for one month with Alt_popup program. The accommodation was very well designed unique, clean, and the bedding was high quality and very comfortable for rest. The space was designed in a way that made it very productive for working as well.
This city feels truly magical. Happiness and convenience are everywhere, and everything can be reached simply by walking whether it’s going up to a shrine, supermarkets, convenience stores, udon schools, famous udon restaurants, shops for shopping, bars, karaoke, coffee shops, or craft beer places. The weather is also very supportive of daily life. It’s an ideal place for relocating to work, to slow down life, focus more on yourself and your work, and connect more with people.
What impressed me the most during this one-month trip was the people here, who were always welcoming, helpful, and very kind throughout my stay in the city. I would like to express my appreciation to Kusunoki-san, Yna-san, Carol-san, Yayoi-san, Yoti-san, Futa-san (Mark), Natsuki-san, and the volunteers there. And I must also mention another group the local people. Thank you for the warm welcome and care throughout my time living there.
We were able to share memories together through various activities. Now, everyone feels like another family to me, like a second home. If I have the opportunity, I will definitely go back to visit everyone again.
See you again and I look forward to coming back and sharing updates on the positive changes that will happen in Kotohira. 🫶🏼✨
Stayed a night and honestly didn't expect much, but left pretty impressed.
The coworking space on the 3rd floor is genuinely good. Big windows, decent chairs, private booths when you need to focus, meeting rooms, outlets wherever you need them. Wi-Fi worked perfectly.
Rooms are clean, nothing fancy, does the job. Private and dorm options.
Shared bathrooms only, but looked very nice, wet and dry areas are separate so it never feels gross or crowded. Never crowded.
Downstairs they do regular community events at the lounge, so if you want to meet people it kind of just... happens. Staff speak English and can give great recommendations about area.
Good spot if you're working remotely and want somewhere that doesn't get in your way.
This place is absolutely wonderful. The hostel is very clean, cozy, and well maintained. The hosts are incredibly kind, friendly, and welcoming.
The location is great, and the overall atmosphere feels like home. I truly enjoyed my stay here and would love to come back again honestly, I would happily stay here for a month.
Highly recommended!
Best hostel I have ever stayed. The people are amazing, especially Yna and Isshy: they are the best people ever. They are welcoming, kind, respectful and always available to help you. Wish I could have stayed longer
Best lodging + coworking space in the region! Great for remote workers.
- Bedrooms are super clean, well designed and modern style with private and dorm options.
- No private bathrooms BUT each shared bathroom have dry and wet section and they're never crowded. Even the sinks are stylish.
- 3/F coworking space has plenty of light, good chairs, desks with plenty of plugs (and Zen booths) + meeting rooms if needed. Internet is fast and stable so I was super productive while staying there for 2 nights.
- Kotori also frequently has community events so ground floor lounge feels like a space you can easily meet with locals and guests living here.
- Also they have English speaking crew here! Super easy to get tourist info.
- Getting here from Takamatsu international airport is also fairly easy. Bus or trains takes ~1hr
- Best udon in the world is walkable from the hostel; a secret whisky bar (Don't tell Mama) and it's right on the main street going up to the famous temple.
I think I'm in love with the town.
This is a unique co working space and hostel on the doorstep of the beautiful Kotohira shrine. The rooms are simple but everything works well and the team are super warm and helpful. You can hire an e-bike and cycle around the district. A peaceful and beautiful place for digital nomads and travelers who want to get a taste of rural, tranquil Japan.
I had a lovely one night stay at the Kotori Hostel at Kotohira. The building was clean, as were the sleeping compartments. The ground floor includes a small kitchen area where you can make yourself some tea or coffee, two showers, and free to use laundromats. Best of all were the hosts, who welcomed me warmly, and gave me stellar advice regarding food, not only in Kotohira, but throughout Kagawa Prefecture. I wholeheartedly recommend you stay here!
Kotori, what a place! I loved it here. I stayed for a month here.
The staff are super friendly and will help you with any questions you have about Kotohira.
It's also a community hub where other locals meetup, cook, and run events too. It's a great place to be in if you want to get to know people both Japanese and international.
The rooms are clean, shower rooms large, and coworking space vast.
The top floor is where you'll find the large coworking green room with window seats. You've also got a separate area for more quiet work and meeting rooms too for calls.
I would highly recommend staying at Kotori and I look forward to returning.
