Amazing hotel with a warm, welcoming atmosphere and an outstanding team and management.
You truly feel at home here. The first floor offers a large shared space with a fully equipped kitchen, food storage, and a walk-in fridge. There’s also a pool table, comfortable sofas, and plenty of areas to relax or spend time with a group of friends.
The location is excellent — a supermarket is just around the corner, great restaurants are nearby, and the ground-floor café/restaurant serves delicious breakfast and lunch.
The rooms offer great views, with very comfortable beds and mattresses. Overall, excellent comfort, great location, and very affordable pricing.
Highly recommended — I will definitely come back.
This hotel was conveniently located in central Cape Town and very secure with face recognition access. The rooms were well equipped, the staff were extremely helpful with booking tours and any queries. The cafe was great for breakfast and lunch. If you are looking for a hotel with great amenities, clean rooms and a fantastic view from some rooms of table mountain then look no further. I would definitely stay here again on a return trip and would have no hesitation in recommending the hotel to others.
Neighbourgood East City is an absolute gem. The location is unbeatable — perfectly positioned for both business trips and holidays. Everything you could possibly need is within easy reach, from restaurants and transport to key city attractions, which makes getting around effortless.
What truly sets this place apart, though, is the warm and friendly staff. Every interaction felt genuine, welcoming, and professional, creating an atmosphere that instantly makes you feel at home.
Whether you’re in Cape Town for work or leisure, Neighbourgood East City offers the perfect balance of convenience, comfort, and exceptional service. I would highly recommend it and wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again.
A few small improvements could make the experience even better. Having dedicated or partnered parking available for guests would be a great addition and add extra convenience, especially for those travelling by car. It would also be wonderful if the restaurant could operate a bit later, as this would be ideal for guests arriving late or wanting to unwind after a long day.
I had a wonderful stay at Neighbourgood East City! From the moment I arrived, the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, making check-in simple and efficient. It was truly seamless from start to finish. The room was spotless and beautifully furnished, with a modern, sophisticated feel that made it really comfortable to relax in after a day out exploring Cape Town. The whole place felt welcoming and well-maintained, and I appreciated the great location, close to cafes, restaurants, and sights. Overall a very pleasant and comfortable stay, highly recommended!
I had a nice stay. The front office staff are very pleasant, especially the day shift ladies and the gentleman on night shift. Only thing is I had to keep reminding staff for bottled water for my room. Breakfast is nice, but maybe try change options, because it's the same every day. Perfect location within the city. Restaurant staff are very friendly and helpful. Value for money,maybe should consider adding shower gels in the bathroom. The room was kept clean,and the shower is great! Will definitely be back.
Great and central stay however upon checkin the standard room I was allocated had a very strong and fresh smell of paint & having arrived late and being asthmatic, it was such a shock. The rooms aircon also didnt work at all
I had to request another room & it was allocated however opted for an upgrade the next morning
The property could be kept much cleaner & better attention to detail (room bulbs, extra blankets etc.)

You get what you pay for, I guess. Please note it’s a 3 star hotel and not a 4 star as per the Google info.
Anyway. If you care about details when staying at any establishment, this spot will leave you wanting.
Cracked glass on the revolving door at the entrance. A bit of an unpleasant smell sometimes at the foyer. Lifts that rattle but otherwise get you to where you’re going. No shower gel, shampoo or lotion in the bathrooms (there is bar soap). Nowhere to hang the hand towel. No gowns and/or slippers. No facial tissues. Blankets and mattress protector only available on request. No bar fridge in the Standard room. Instead there’s a communal fridge, microwaves and stoves on the 1st floor. (Bring a padlock for the fridge 😅😂). No hairdryers in the rooms. And housekeeping isn’t expected to wash your used cup and glass - they merely give it a rinse.
But otherwise, if you’re just looking for a roof over your head, it’s pretty decent. Staff is helpful, the Standard room looked clean, sheets white, kettle, tea and instant coffee sachets provided in the rooms (no bottled water though - so bring your own). Good water pressure in the bathroom. I liked the location - pretty central with many shops within walking distance. They even provided a complimentary tote bag which was nice.
I’m usually quite picky about these things, and read reviews etc. before making a decision. I didn’t this time - despite their 4.4 Google rating when I never go for lower than 4.5. Lesson learnt. 😅
