Staying at Neighbourgood Newlands was beyond phenomenal. The location was super convenient: with shopping centres, Virgin Active and a 24 hour Woolworths all within about 150m. The rooms were comfortable and well-serviced, there is a fantastic restaurant on the ground floor and a large communal kitchen available in addition to numerous chilling and working areas. Above all, the friendly staff and good people who were checked in with us made our stay quite unforgettable. Highly recommended!
Awesome hotel, beautiful layout and innovative concept. There's a communal kitchen where everyone can store their food in little lockers so your food is secure. There is a community vibe which is really nice. The room I had was pretty basic, bed, chairs, bathroom with shower but very comfy and cosy. All in all I recommend staying here and would stay here myself again.
Mine was a fairly long stay and I was impressed by the value for money in comparison to other establishments. Staff, amenities, service. and location excellent. A special mention for the cleaning staff, who were bright, friendly and very efficient. Gerry PB. Melbourne Aus.
This is a great little budget hotel, in a convenient area for where we needed to be. This review is based on the factor that it is a budget hotel. It's a short walk to Cavendish Square and has an in house Cafe, yoga studio and beauty salon. They even have a communal kitchen if you want to cook. Rooms are spacious enough for what you pay. Only complaint is that there is no air conditioning, so I would be mindful of a booking in summer. They do have opening windows and fans. They have a separate toilet to the shower and sink. No fridge. The lady that checked us in was lovely and even assisted with an early check in. She was by far the best front desk person in staff, she was always friendly and greeted the guests. I would consider staying again.
The hotel's central location offers unparalleled access to the vibrant Claremont center. Guests can enjoy a relaxing and comfortable stay with top-notch amenities. The friendly staff is dedicated to providing exceptional service. From the moment you arrive, you'll be immersed in an atmosphere of warmth and hospitality. It's the perfect place to unwind and explore all that the area has to offer. The only downside is that the AC doesn't work.
No aircon in my room and it was a very hot day I arrived so not pleasant. Coffee ran out during breakfast and it took more than 20 mins to get coffee, breakfast was finished and then it arrived. Key card to room kept going red, had to go back down to reception twice , with my luggage, to get it reactivated.
I recently stayed at the Neighbourgood Hotel in Newlands, and I must say it was a huge disappointment. The air conditioning in my room did not work, and when I raised the issue with the staff, they simply dismissed my concerns, saying they were fully booked and could do nothing about it. After looking at other reviews, I realized this is not a one-time issue—guests have been complaining about the lack of air conditioning for months! It’s shocking that management has done nothing to address this ongoing problem. To make matters worse, the room was unbearably hot, and the tiny window barely opens, offering no relief from the sweltering heat. If you're considering staying here, I highly recommend reading the reviews first. Had I done so, I would have avoided this frustrating experience. Definitely not worth the hassle!
