No aircon in my room and it was a very hot day I arrived so not pleasant. Coffee ran out during breakfast and it took more than 20 mins to get coffee, breakfast was finished and then it arrived. Key card to room kept going red, had to go back down to reception twice , with my luggage, to get it reactivated.
I recently stayed at the Neighbourgood Hotel in Newlands, and I must say it was a huge disappointment. The air conditioning in my room did not work, and when I raised the issue with the staff, they simply dismissed my concerns, saying they were fully booked and could do nothing about it.
After looking at other reviews, I realized this is not a one-time issue—guests have been complaining about the lack of air conditioning for months! It’s shocking that management has done nothing to address this ongoing problem. To make matters worse, the room was unbearably hot, and the tiny window barely opens, offering no relief from the sweltering heat.
If you're considering staying here, I highly recommend reading the reviews first. Had I done so, I would have avoided this frustrating experience. Definitely not worth the hassle!
One night stay due to evacuating during Table Mountain fire. Arrived in the early hours of the morning, staff was extremely helpful. Well priced and very central. The showed floor was a little dirty but aside from that it was a lovley stay.
Decent value for money. Perfect for a few nights if you just need a clean and modern hotel room. Comfortable and clean with some nice amenities. The staff stood out for me as they were switched on, helpful and welcoming.
Staff at the reception was really helpful and genuinely welcoming. The rooms were clean. The restaurant area is very pleasant with good choices. The swimming pool is more like a big jacuzzi and very dirty. We also found out once there that there was no air-conditioning working. When you get into your room you switch the air conditioning on in your room because there is an A/C monitor. When on it is extremely noisy. Hours later there is no improvement. You then believe that you were unlucky with your A/C that it had packed up! You then read Google reviews to find out that the whole place does not provide A/C. Why isn't this made clear at check in and a fan be offered as an alternative. Did not appreciate the tiny sprinkle of water through the electric tap in the bathroom either.
