Surfbreak is such a special place and definitely one of those places that feels like home from the moment you arrive.
It’s much more than just a Hostal. You can cook your own meals, work with reliable WiFi, borrow surfboards, relax by the pool, play games, and spend time with an amazing community of people who genuinely want to connect.
What makes Surfbreak stand out even more is how much thought has gone into every little detail. They really care about sustainability, from recycling and composting to solar energy and creating a more conscious way of traveling.
And Erik puts so much heart into this place. From the personalized name tags to the Surfbreak T-shirts, he creates an environment where everyone feels welcomed and part of something bigger than just a stay.
I had such a wonderful time here, met incredible people, and made memories I’ll always cherish. Leaving was honestly hard, and I already can’t wait to come back.

We had such a wonderful time at Surfbreak Co-Living and met so many incredible people, including the amazing hosts. From start to finish, everything exceeded our expectations.
The spaces were always well kept and thoughtfully designed for remote work, with great work areas on both the rooftop and in the coworking space. The kitchen was well equipped, the rooms were spacious and comfortable, and we really appreciated having air conditioning, safe filtered water throughout the house, and a beautiful pool to enjoy.
Additionally, reliable internet was a huge plus. Wi-Fi was never an issue, and they had ethernet cables in every room, plus Starlink as a backup, which gave us a lot of peace of mind.
The location is hard to beat, just a two-minute walk from gorgeous beaches and about a 10-to-15-minute walk to downtown La Punta. Surfbreak also makes life easy by connecting guests with local businesses, including gym and fitness programs and meal delivery options. The family dinners were another highlight and made it easy to connect with other guests.
After we left, our travel plans changed and we ended up returning only a few weeks later. That says everything about how much we loved it. We are already planning our next visit and hope to check out the Honolulu location too.
10/10 on every front. We cannot recommend Surfbreak enough.
Surfbreak is an amazing place to stay, like a truly paradise in the heart of Puerto, perfectly located.
First of all, it’s very comfortable: rooms are equipped with all the new furniture + AC. The kitchen is spacious and beautiful, very well equipped as well. + the pool and the incredible sea view from the rooftop made my stay here fool of joyful moments. Nothing better than having a cup of coffee while working and watching the waves/or the sunset at the same time. I was even able to see the whales from this rooftop!
And that’s probably the best place for digital nomads in Puerto: SurfBreak has both Starlink + cable local ethernet + high tec router/sweetcher, so hight speed is always available. They also have generator that supplies all the building with the electricity in case of power outages. Which happens offen in Puerto, end while the whole town suffered with no power - in Surfbreak we never noticed it.
The workers team deserves special mention. Erick, Tania, Nayeli are doing incredible job. They are always on top of everything, solving any occurring problem fast and making staying there a perfect experience. They are just a very friendly and kind people as well, and you can feel it.

All I can really say is that I had an absolutely amazing experience at Surfbreak. It’s the perfect location in Puerto Escondido to meet people, work, enjoy the beach, and experience all the town has to offer. Professionally ran but super relaxed chill vibe, planning on staying again next year!
I put down the $$ for a deposit to stay with Surfbreak PXM in October for a one-month long stay starting in December. Shortly thereafter, I received news from my family that my mother had been diagnosed with late stage cancer. I reached out to Surfbreak to explain the situation and to request that my deposit be moved to a later
month given my circumstances. My request was denied and as such I lost the entire deposit. I feel this could have been approached with more sympathy and general humanity from Surfbreak’s perspective. I don't know if I'll consider staying with them anymore.
I loved it! The location is so nice because it’s walking distance from the main strip, but also away enough where it’s quiet and relaxing. Living in community is really nice and I really enjoyed the common areas like the pool, the rooftop, And living room with tv as I love having movie nights. I really enjoyed that they gave us so many free things in the kitchen, I got free eggs, milk, yogurt, granola, oils, spices , coffee etc.
Also I love that every single sink and shower has a filter in it!! This really helped :) and ofc it has great WiFi and amazing views!! So close to the beach so sunset is a must every day with Surfbreak squad
Really great experience. Facilities were nice, location is mint, and wifi was great.
Was most impressed, however, with the friendliness and responsiveness of the staff.
I had booking issues with my flights into Puerto, and they were super helpful with accommodating last second changes and flexing room options to help me out.
Look no further! Surf break and their staff are amazing! My room had ac, the kitchen was fully equipt, and the bathrooms were very clean. It was located in between Zicatela and La punta in the perfect spot. I’m already trying to go back!
