This is a good hotel that has a range of options from hostel to luxury hotel. And there were a variety of age groups staying here from college to elderly couples. The best part of the hotel was the hot tubs on the roof. There are three hot tubs that can fit about four people each. The first night we made some friends with strangers in the hot tub because there wasn’t one free but during the day time there’s usually at least one free. They also have a sauna up there. The bed was comfortable. The shower was big enough with plenty hot water and good pressure. Very large window. Location is right next to a metro stop making it conveneient to get to central station. Cons: the floor is concrete. No daily room service unless you ask for it and there are no phones in the room to call and ask so you either have to call a Dutch number from your phone or go to reception. The biggest downside in my opinion is that the bathroom has a glass panel separating it from the bedroom not an opaque wall so if someone is using the bathroom at night the light will wake up their sleeping partner. This is a terrible trend in modern hotels and I actively look for places that don’t do this.
All super great experience. Now the disco in the hotel is making music till 6 AM and though the noise is handled, you hear the loud bass even at the second floor… Our daughters did not hear anything but it woke me up.
This is a very fun hotel with excellent staff. Especially great for the younger crowd (think college, not kids) as they have a lot going on (music, art shows, late night drinking etc). The rooftop hot tubs and sauna were perfect. And their bike rentals were the most reasonable and best bikes we had in the three weeks we were in the Netherlands and Belgium. We would certainly come back again!
I'm officially a Volkshotel stan. When I come back to Amsterdam, I will 100% stay here again! Our first room was basic but still great, perfect size for two people. Our second room was the Businessman's Trip, which was one of the special rooms. We LOVED it!!! The bed was so comfy, I loved using the bath in front of the massive window, and the projector and screen?! Come on. The sauna and hot tubs were also wonderful! We got to use them a few times and each time was great and relaxing. It was a truly fabulous stay and I can't wait to come back! BTW, I need to know more about the creative minds behind the Volkshotel. Whoever curated this place is a genius.
Very trendy hotel with pretty much everything you could need for a stay. We had a corner room and there were massive windows which were great. There's a cafe and a remote working space for people on the first floor and a sauna and dance club on other floors. You can also rent bikes and store your luggage in a safe room if needed. Would definitely stay here again
I loved eveything about this hotel. From the bottom to the top! Metro station, supermarket and cute coffees are also nearby. The rooftop, the sauna and the hot water pools were amazing. The overall atmosphere was amazing... The personal is so young, wild spirit, friendly, they match the vibe of the hotel.. The breakfast for 14.50€ was very good!
Friendly staff. Room cleaning on request was only moderately effective. Room was good except for the nights from Friday to Saturday and Sunday. We heard the music from the club in the basement all the way to our room on the first floor and didn't have any more peaceful nights.
