✅Spaces displaying the marque self-certify as being invested into their community — making themselves recognisable as supporting their members and guests together as a community, not just a space.
We'll recognise your certification by promoting you across the site, remove other promoted spaces from your profile, and sync your reviews more frequently.
- tell us details for your space: together@coliving.community
- must offer stays of a month or under, have a shared kitchen and living spaces, with at least 6 rooms (some exceptions)
- we'll issue your marque image to add to your site, upgrading your listing; you may also qualify for a star classifcation
🙌We plan to function as a platform co-op in which operators and users alike have a say in its features and management for mutual benefit — we look forward to your participation in helping shape what we can do together!
We do have some tips…
For the best user experience on your site, show as an easily read summary:
- a price hint — on your landing page e.g. from xxx per week / xxx per month
- next availability indicator — e.g. availbility in June for 2 weeks, monthly from August 1st (ideally using an automated integration; we're planning a feature with this, else do update)
- workspace facilities — a dining table, proper desks, ergo chairs; plus your internet speed / connection type (test; both up and down)
- how many rooms you have, and some details of the different types (ensuite, studios, doubles, dorms, pods/capsules, 'premium', basic?)
- your walkthrough video should be featured on your homepage
- photos for each and every of your common spaces, wide shots not close-ups
- how your community functions — is a host or facilitator resident, is there a regular family meal or planning meeting?
- how far are — food shops/market, restaurants, the outdoors (parks, beaches, hikes), etc.
- how to reach you — by transit, else do you offer a pickup from the station or airport?
For the best community experience:
- onboard new members in person when they arrive, or latest the next day; introducing the common spaces and how to look after them; the longer you leave this the more lost they will feel unless your space is very small, even if others do this for you, details will be missed
- run a regular structured event, even if only a weekly family meal and activity planning meetup with introductions; ideally include free food/snacks/drinks, even if not everytime or the whole meal, at least part
- if you use a volunteer facilitator/community manager, offer them training and guidance; e.g. become a member of the Coliving Hub association or other groups that share best practices; inexperienced volunteers may badly affect community, unless they make up for it with their energy and involvement 😉
- have a physical place to share event plans/ideas amongst members in a common accessed area, and update it with plans; e.g. a blackboard on a wall 👏
- use a commonly accessible community chat tool; e.g. Whatsapp or just an email list — Telegram or Slack may not be common 👍
- use an app to share costs and make sure everyone knows; doesn't have to be official but will avoid problems for the community manager, such as at restaurants who don't split the bill, or when contributing to renting a car and other activities 👍
Add your space:
- to Google maps (required for inclusion on our map, though you can ask us to use only your position if you prefer to be semi-private†), with photos; and do encourage guests to leave reviews (but don't pester them!); †it is possible to add but hide your business on Google Maps still allowing reviews but not directions
- as a checkin location on Facebook (page with location address, not a personal profile) for user tagging on instagram, and for reviews
