Classifications
We issue stars to coliving spaces in a similar way as hotels β non subjectively β for actual facilities at the property, not for opinions such as reviews and how 'nice' it is. Operators must self-certify that their facilities are as described, meeting both expectations and needs. This is free and non-exclusive. Explore all spaces with stars
Coliving Community marque
Any space may use the marque if they meet basic minimums whilst making clear what more they offer:
- enough capacity to actually have a dynamic community
- community gatherings at the space
- shared lounge and kitchen (or meals available)
- laundry or laundry-service
Star classifications
Currently indicating suitability and appeal for remote workers and anyone taking a workation whom like to be around similarly professionally-oriented members. Hybrid and flex living spaces do not currently qualify however this will be reviewed. There are two fundamental facilities:
- πͺ community
- unfacilitated β where the owner, a manager or staff member may arrange events, yet is not an active participant
- self-organising β when members and guests organise activities amongst themselves; usually enabled by the use of a chatgroup, or well positioned events board
- facilitated β where a dedicated person is responsible for the community day-to-day as an active member themselves, hosting a regular planning meeting (usually as a weekly 'family meal')
- β¨οΈ workspace
- non-dedicated β e.g. only a dining table, and sofas, this causes contention due to overlapping uses
- non-ergonomic β a dedicated workroom but lacking either adjustable chairs or a proper height desk (not a dining table)
- ergonomic β intended for productivity, from adjustable seat to proper desk heights and good lighting
- in addition other facilities such as multiple spaces (focus and casual), internet, bedroom desks, callrooms, etc.
β 1-star
- probably good workspace and good community (ergonomic coworking and facilitator)
- else if one is just okay (workroom, or regular events) then either:
- one excellent (multiple workspaces, or magical community)
- 5 extra facilities and no short-stays
- fast internet (fibre or Starlink)
β β 2-star
- definitely good workspace and good community; no exceptions
- no short-stays
- 5 extra facilities, including
- callspace
β β β 3-star
- excellent with multiple workspaces or multiple lounges
- 7 extra facilities, including
- transit or pickup
- pro network
