Despite having our own train station, we're remote. This means the standard is Norwegian cozy: simple, clean and warm. But we're also trying to be epic! We generate our own hydropower and roast our own coffee on the premises.

The original Mjølfjell lodge was built in 1939 as a peace project by students from 20 nations. We hope you'll join us in carrying on their tradition, from around the world to big things in the mountains above the fjords of western Norway.

My cousin and I stayed at Voss Mountain Lodge while we were visiting Norway this last week. All in all we had a great experience. Everything was very clean and well kept and the staff were incredibly kind and helpful. There was not a ton to do In the off-season, as the pool is closed. But we did enjoy a nice hike and the sauna as well! You can also take the train to Voss or flam for a day trip, which we enjoyed doing!! We thought that the dinner and breakfast were complementary based on the way it was advertised (possibly due to language translation) so we did get hit with a very high bill at the end of our stay. Just something to be aware of if you’re going. But there is a kitchen available to cook as well. The lodge is at the very bottom of a mountain if taking the train to get there, with a pretty steep and rocky path. It was fine for my cousin and I and if anything we enjoyed the hike, but it could be more challenging for those that have a more difficult time getting around or if you travel with multiple bags or large suitcases. The lodge really was gorgeous and the staff made it so pleasant! They also roast their own coffee on site which we enjoyed on several occasions!
Beautiful mountain lodge with friendly staff and great food. It was clear that Chef Samuel not only had a strong passion for the Norse cuisine, but also had great knowledge of local beverages. Tip: ask for the Devils drink
The location is not just “remote”, it's a suspension test course for your car. If you’re looking to ruin your car’s suspension for fun, this might be your spot. The communication style was cold and dismissive, and their tone left a lot to be desired. I’d recommend looking elsewhere unless you’re really into bumpy roads and passive-aggressive replies.
Our stay at Voss Mountain Lodge was fine all in all. The lodge serves both breakfast and dinner and you can pack a lunch at breakfast. The breakfast was a buffet which was fine and for dinner was a set dish every day including a vegetarian option. For dinner you can also buy drinks. All food and drinks you buy do cost extra and you pay for all this at the end of your stay. It is also possible to make your own food since there is a little kitchen and about 3 km away there is a small shop where you can get the essentials. We stayed in July 2025 and we could not see any heater in our room so the room got a bit cold this might be a bigger problem if staying in the winter. The curtains in the room are thin so they don’t keep all the light out. The mountain Lodge is located a beautiful location with good hiking routes all around. You can arrive either by car or by train. The train station is op a steep hill with difficult terrain and would be very hard/ impossible to go down with a suitcase.
Lovely setting, spotlessly clean, rooms very comfortable and great facilities: sauna, pool. The staff are really welcoming and amazingly helpful, Thank you so much for your advice and hospitality. Great home-roasted fair trade coffee. Definitely recommend and hope to visit again !
