Stayed here for a couple weeks. This place is world class. The apartments are the cleanest I have seen in Central America (and cleaner than any rental I’ve stayed at in the US as well), the internet is fast, the location is fantastic, and the owners are always there to help. This was our first time staying at coconut office, but it surely won’t be our last. I cannot recommend Coconut Office enough.
Morten and Rosalia were the nicest hosts I’ve stayed during my 2 year digital nomad adventure. They make you feel like longtime friends and ensure you have an excellent stay. Morton even drove me to a beach an hour away to surf. The complex is beautiful. Landscaping is pristine and the pool is both clean and deep. The apartment felt brand new and the kitchen is well stocked. You can walk to a variety of restaurants and mini markets. They have free bikes you can use for further distances. Uber is also very cheap so a car is not a necessity. I will definitely be back!
Hands-down the best Airbnb experience I’ve ever had, and I can’t imagine anything topping this. The accommodations are top-notch, Morten and Rosalia are amazing humans, and the walkable proximity to serene sunsets everyday is perfect for experiencing ‘pura vida.’ I came to Coconut Office for a 3-month stay as a remote worker/digital nomad. Having previously lived in a luxury apartment complex in Washington DC, I can say that Coconut Office was a step up in quality. I stayed in the Tulin unit. The apartment is a very well-designed two-story unit, with a well-stocked kitchen, a large flat-screen TV, an extremely comfortable king size bed in the master bedroom, a second bedroom which I used as an office, tons of closet space, a great shower, A/C in every room, blazing fast fiber optic WiFi (500mbps), and a large patio overlooking your own personal pool, farmland with cows grazing, and almond trees that attract gorgeous macaws daily. Maria will come weekly to clean the apartment (including dishes) and do laundry for you. The co-working space provides a great opportunity to meet fellow guests and stay productive during your time at Coconut Office, and it comes with all the things you might want in an office—desks, comfortable office chairs, outlets galore, a coffee machine, an espresso machine, and a printer. Diego from the Farmers Market comes by the apartment every other week so you can buy fresh produce without even having to leave the property. Morten and Rosalia are some of the most warm, positive, and attentive people I’ve ever met—not just through Airbnb, I mean anywhere. In my culture, we’d say they are mensches. You can tell they genuinely love hosting and creating a welcoming community of residents at Coconut Office. They went above-and-beyond as hosts so many times to ensure my stay was going well. They hosted a delicious BBQ with all the fellow guests, which introduced me to a fellow resident here that went on to become a dear friend of mine. I left my phone in an Uber one evening, and they got on message boards and helped track down the driver that returned my phone. They invited me out with their friends to celebrate New Year’s Eve, including a festive champagne toast at midnight on Playa Hermosa. When going through a challenging life moment, Morten took me out to dinner to chat and cheer me up. They researched additional travel options for me to continue to enjoy my time in Costa Rica after Coconut Office. They provided a detailed PDF outlining some of the best restaurants and tourist opportunities in the surrounding area. They have all sorts of connections in the area, whether you’re looking for surfing lessons, a Spanish language tutor, or a private driver to take you anywhere you need to go. Any question you have, they are there for you to help however you need. The property is a short 12-min walk to the absolutely gorgeous Playa Hermosa. Seriously, walking to see the sunset everyday from Coconut Office was life-changing. You can check out the weekly surf competitions on Saturdays, and there are plenty of eating options within walking distance. There are also bikes on the property that you can take out any time. Being proximate to Jaco, but not in Jaco, was great. An Uber to Jaco costs ~$5 and is less than a 10-min drive; there are grocery stores and many restaurants to check out there. I cannot recommend staying at Coconut Office more strongly.
I had a flawless experience and perfect stay at Coconut Office! Anyone would be lucky to stay here and enjoy the hospitality of owners Rosalia and Morten. The accomodations feel like home, and I was extremely comfortable and happy for my entire stay. I lacked for nothing! The apartment was beautiful, quiet, sparkling clean thanks to head of Housekeeping Maria, and the wifi and office made working remotely easy and hassle free. I got to see scarlet mccaws and iguanas, butterflies, and hummingbirds right in the yard! Also loved the pool, the yoga deck for sunrises and how close the beach is. The sunsets at Playa Hermosa are second to none! I've traveled to other countries and stayed in similar places for digital nomads, but nothing comes close to the experience that Rosalia and Morten curate for their guests. I made friends with the other guests and had meals with everyone. Morten and Rosa really go the extra mile to make you feel like family and when you're far from home that means the world. Anything I needed or any questions and they were able to help and reply immediately. They're just good people who enjoy sharing their love of Costa Rica with other good people and you feel that vibe the entire time you stay. Book this place and who knows, you might run into me in the future, I'm definitely coming back again!
Morten and Rosalia of the Coconut Office take the definition of hospitality to a whole new level! We have been digital nomads for nearly 5 years now and have stayed in many different places. The Coconut Office is hands-down, far and away, the absolute best place we have stayed. The property has been lovingly designed and constructed from the ground up to specifically cater to long term (several weeks to several month stays) digital nomads. The apartments are spacious, comfy and contain all the amenities you might need for longer stays. The communal office is a joy to work from, with ergonomic office chairs, solid desks, powerful AC and pleasant 360 deg views. Morten, Rosalia and other tenants come in and out of the office so you get a chance to chat and get to know the other visitors. But worry not if you need privacy for a conference call; the high speed fiber optic internet is mesh connected and spans the entire property. You can absolutely still work from your apartment (or even outside by the pool if you’re so inclined). But the real value of this place is the attitude of hospitality that Morten and Rosalia demonstrate around the clock. This isn’t just some other rental property where you hardly hear from your host unless something goes wrong. Morten and Rosalia care deeply about the experiences of their clients. They are filled with local recommendations and will typically prearrange anything you want. Driver from the airport, tour guides, massage service, restaurants, pharmacy needs, surf lessons, spanish tutor... check, check, check and check. If you have ANY sort of issue, just message them and you can be sure that if it’s within their power to solve, they will work tirelessly to make it happen. Also unlike typical vacation rentals, they screen potential tenants. There are no families with young children or hard-core party animals here. They are looking for chill professionals who like to have a couple beers with a BBQ but typically go to bed early (to wake up early for that morning surf). While you will meet folks from different countries, ages and walks of life, the vibe is undoubtedly low-key and you will definitely be able to get your job done. If this sounds like you and you’re looking to stay a little longer and build some community, we highly encourage you to hit them up directly. A 15 minute WhatsApp call (or an in-person visit if you happen to be in the area) and you will undoubtedly be certain that this is the place for you. My partner and I ended up staying in one of the two bedroom units for nearly 4 months and had an amazing time. We were able to use the second bedroom as a home office for the times we needed to work in more privacy. Yet we were able to easily transition it back to a bedroom and hosted various friends and family that came down to visit. The flexibility and ability to seamlessly switch from work mode to vacation mode was a dream come true. As we continue to travel around the world we have a suspicion that future places we stay will very much struggle to measure up to the GOLD STANDARD of the Coconut Office by Morten and Rosalia. We certainly hope to return time and again in the future. Maybe we’ll meet you there!
