Hyve is very close to Basel SBB (the main train station in Basel), like a five minute walk, which is a huge plus if you're arriving/leaving by train. Checking-in, and checking-out are done digitally on a screen by the entrance. Unfortunately some bug caused two accidental extra withdrawals of the price of my booking. The staff at Hyve was very friendly, and arranged for those withdrawals to be refunded. If you have enough money to spare until you get the money back, that's not a problem of course, but I believe that many don't. So I really hope they're working hard at fixing that bug. Since I stayed at Hyve during a heat wave in June, I wasn't impressed with the airconditioning included in the description of the rooms on hostels.com. In my room (an 8-bed one) there was just a fan by the window, which I felt no effect of at all from my bed, so I couldn't sleep a wink. Switzerland is expensive. The price for my bed was a lot higher than I've paid at much nicer hostels in Italy for example, so that contributed to the disappointment.

Overall it was a nice stay. I stayed in a double-room. One of the mattresses was really saggy and one of the lights did not work. I would have appreciated also little bit more light in the toilets and showers. It felt really dark.

Very short walking distance from the train station. Supermarket available. Shower room is good that have a small bench to put clothes. Quiet neighborhood.

It was a wonderful experience, we booked a capsule room with four friends and it was perfect 👌 I was a bit afraid cause it was underground at first but the room is neatly designed so you do not feel it at all. The staff was really nice and the accommodation were clean and practical. Frankly way better that what i would have expected from a youth hotel 🥰 The location is also very good, 5 minutes from the main train station with a lot of connections to local transports.

Fantastic first hostel experience! Rooms are comfortable, clean and spacious. Being located so close to the train station is quite nice and the social atmosphere is lovely and friendly! Highly highly recommend to anyone taking a trip to Basel

The location is good, the staff is friendly. The stay quite horrific. They changed their IT system so the door locks arent working properly for the first time. The staff will be friendly enough to help you. The horrific thing is that we were having a nap around 4pm to 5pm during the day of visit, then the staff suddenly tried to go in(but only peeked). We asked the reception and they said they want to fix the light???????????? Does that make sense? It is a bit traumatizing that they can open the room even though its not cleaning period in the morning. Few hours down, everytime we hear a noise from the outside, we will just be worried that someone will open the door again.

Omg, was so good! Felt more like a boutique hotel than a hostel. We stayed in a private room so can't comment on the dorms and omg, luxury. The brilliant shower room and the free robe they give was such a added benefit. The staff were too good for a hostel! Everything was above our expectations for sure

I stayed here twice, once in the winter of 2024 and again in 2025 during the Women's EURO tournament. I was satisfied with everything the hotel offers and is also a comfortable place to just chill out after a day of traveling around Basel. My only issue (and this is mostly circumstantial) was that during the Euros, a capsule cost more than a single room. Plus points definitely go to the location. Close proximity to Basel SBB made it ideal for travelers. Otherwise, very happy to stay here again if I were to have another solo trip to Basel.
