🏨 has short staysFine for a workation, but significant turnover works against coliving principles for a cohesive community; a longer minimum stay supports better interactions. What is coliving?
Tucked into a horseshoe bay on the island’s southern coast, where jungle cliffs meet warm waves, and digital nomads trade city noise for scooter rides and coconut chats. Relaxed but buzzing.

I stayed here for about a month and honestly had such a good time. The place has everything you need comfy spaces, good coworking setup, but what really made it special was the people. It was super social, we did lots of fun stuff together, and the hosts even joined us on a safari in Yala which was amazing. Felt more like living with friends than just booking a place. Would definitely come back.
Being the first Community Manager here, I get to witness the start of the co-living space where we welcome the first guests to the next consecutively for 2 months.
The location wise is ideal as I enjoy walking, it takes 15-min walk to Hiri beach, 20-min walk to Blue Beach, 25-min walk to Dickwella beach, and 30-min walk to Kudawella beach. It is super convenient if you ride a scooter, where you can rent from the owner of the house. There are 2 local restaurants nearby where you can enjoy simple egg hopper + plain hopper breakfast (DK Bojun) and local food (Hungry Spot) for lunch or dinner - takeaway is available. If I would like to go to the nearest cafe, it will be a 15-min walk via a short cut going through the villages. Next to the house, there is a mini sundry shop where I get my biscuits. Opposite the street, we have another sundry shop where I get the traditional curd (meekiri), bananas, and vegetables.
The house is fairly new with 3 floors with a garden to chill, and a kitchen attached on the side. There are common areas to chill in each floors with the co-working space at the highest floor. The internet is upgraded to 5G connectivity equipped with its own backup supply. The neighbourhood locals were friendly and love to smile and greet us whenever we walk pass. We have 3 local hosts (AJ, RJ, Nadun) so we get to spend some time with each of them where they would recommend us good food, stories, and help us with the transportation when needed.
Staying here allow me to live + work + eat with the guests according to the weekly activities. My favourite group activity was the recent group scooter outing to 88km away with our host (AJ), guests, and local friends. I enjoy the times where we are able to mingle with local friends and friends around the world with more understanding about each others' culture and norms.
Thank you for the opportunity to live, work and co-create meaningful experiences here!
Cheers
I stayed here for a month and it was great!
Hiriketiya is a perfect place if you want to relax and live a simple, but comfortable life.
The house feels new and has everything you need. It is a bit outside the center but this also means that there are cheaper, local food options close by.
The hosts are extremely helpfull and will try to help you with whatever you ask. Help in transport, planning a safari trip, just to name a few :) They and their local friends are often at the house which I really liked as they know Sri Lanka the best and are also super warm-hearted, chill people!
Also, thank you so much Vic for being the best community manager and always taking care of everyone!!❤️
I will miss you all!
first off, hiriketiya is THE ideal spot in sri lanka for nomads. it’s such a cute little town with a good mix of local spots and places catered more towards westerners. not to mention it’s super affordable, you can eat out for every meal for less than $10-15 per day. good surf, beautiful beach, cute cafes and good food.
the house actually exceeded my expectations, it’s even bigger and nicer in person. it’s about 12 min walk from most stuff in town and 20 min walk to the beach. but its location means you’re close to a lot of more local and cheap places to eat and shop. i didn’t find i needed transport but you could easily rent a scooter or bike for cheap.
if you’ve stayed at other nomadico locations, you know the community aspect is top notch and they coordinate multiple activities a week (surfing lessons, dinners, yoga, drinks) so there’s always something to do or people to hang with.
the hosts were exceptionally nice and hospitable! i booked my stay super last minute and they went out of their way to help me arrange my transportation. even calling the bus station to help me figure out the best route they ended up being much shorter and less complicated than what google maps suggested.
honestly everything exceeded my expectations, you won’t be disappointed!!
Slow Life in Hiriketiya is more than just a place to stay, it’s a little nomadic community where people from all over the world come together to live simply and intentionally. The space feels like home, with a relaxed atmosphere, shared meals, and conversations that flow late into the night. It’s not about luxury, but about connection with people, with nature, and with yourself. The beach is a 20-minute walk away, close enough for daily swims yet far enough to keep the surroundings calm and peaceful. If you’re looking for a place to slow down, share stories, and be part of a like-minded community, this is it.
