Stayed here for 6 days and enjoyed every moment! Especially the free coffee in the morning with a plunge in the giant pool. Saw also so many new animals and birds here. The place is well maintained.
Looks perfect for digital nomads: they have a cowork space!
They put a lot of effort in keeping the place clean. They organize a lot of activities like bonfire, trivia, yoga, brunch, …
Some people in the reviews say the location is not so great: rent a scooter instead of using the shuttle: you will be happy with a scooter since you can explore so much more (so many amazing beaches).
We stopped in for a day pass to use the pool, have some drinks, and eat some food. Overall, the bar/pool area was nicely kept, comfortable, and the prices on food and drinks seemed reasonable.
There are no lounge chairs around the pool for sunbathing. We found that to be disappointing as there was no place to lay out in the sun after swimming and the pool area is very shaded, even at 1 pm.
The "burgers" are not actual hamburgers with a beef patty, they actually have no meat at all. My husband tried to ask the staff if there was carne on The Shroom "burger" and they said yes so he ordered it. It ended up just being canned mushrooms mixed with some sauce on untoasted burger buns. Not good at all and fortunately they took it off our bill because we had to send it back. Absolutely disgusting and a real disappointment, we were surprised something so bad is on the menu. Fortunately my chicken dish was pretty decent. We learned on the way out that none of the "burgers" have a beef patty.
We live nearby, but not sure if we will be back as there are other options in the area.
A beautiful and relaxing space, though it’s more of a coworking resort than a hostel and is priced accordingly. Staff was great and the food is very good. It’s not as accessible to the beach as it looks on the map. Also, people should know that there is a highway being built right outside which creates a lot of construction noise that begins early in the morning. Obviously that’s not the fault of the resort, but it definitely interrupted the chill vibes.
It’s easy to write a great review for the space. From the friendly front desk staff to the chill spaces, great bartenders, lazy hammocks and natural aesthetic, I really enjoyed my time here. Next time I would 100% go for air conditioning, but that’s a lesson I had to learn on my own. It was surprisingly quiet for a hostel and they have a long list of activities to do and an easy shuttle to town. Extensive menu, too!
The Space is a really neat hostel. It's very cozy and chill there and even the dorms are amazing. Sadly they only offer to eat in their own restaurant (no kitchen). And the food takes a bit long. Also It's really a bit far off. They offer a Shuttle for 2 Dollar into town, but nothing really for partying or looking around.
‼️For future Volunteers‼️
If you want to volunteer at the SPACE. be aware that you will not be appreciated for what you are doing!
If you give feedback to the owners they do not care at all or either find something to make you feel guilty for the bad reviews. The staff is really kind and helpful!!! The positive thing is the manager really cares about the volunteers opinions and helps you as far as he can.
If you want to stay in a volunteering place where you can have good communication with the bosses (except the manager) and feel comfortable this is not the right place for you. Unfortunately the owners do not appear at all, they just send rude messages to you if you do a slight mistake and do not try to let you feel ok after apologising. They only threaten with firing.
Our whole volunteer team got kicked. We got kicked out as a collective even though not everyone did anything wrong and they justified this by saying the entire group dynamic was not appropriate 😂
Anyway the dorm and staff is good. The dorms look modern and have AC so you can feel comfortable in the night.
I had a wonderful experience at Space! The hostel is really welcoming, and the rancho is perfect for relaxing and enjoying the pools. The food and drinks were great, but the best part was definitely the staff—everyone was super friendly, especially Danni, Julio, and Maria! The shuttle service from town was also very convenient. Thanks for making me feel at home!
