It’s a beautiful hostel, feels quite luxurious. There’s a swimming pool, bar/restaurant and plenty of comfy seats to gather with your friends. We went for the deluxe dorm which was so worth it as it had aircon, definitely worth the price! Only downside is that there is no kitchen, you have to buy your food there so it can be a bit pricey. Also, would be good to have more staff at reception as sometimes many people were checking in at the same time or had questions and there would be a long wait.
Great place in SJDS epically if you are looking for a little excitement but also some chill time. Thursday night party, but otherwise very chill place. Edelson is an excellent host and is super helpful. The common area is designed beautifully and the amenities are great, bar staff is excellent. It is a little outside of town but there are shuttles. Not all rooms have hot water and AC. If that’s something you are looking for be sure to call ahead and the staff are super helpful to ensure you get the room you are looking for.
The room looks good, the rooms are clean! on the other hand, the staff of this hostel are very arrogant, and it's like they have to work there, they look at me and laugh among themselves because they treat you arrogantly and are not friendly at all. I would probably come back if they changed the staff. The location is nice but the people working there spoil your experience. especially the guys from the reception.
The easiest way to sum it up is, it was beautifully disappointing. The place looks so very nice. However, the moment you get near any staff there, they look like they hate your guts. They do smile and exchange nice chats amongst themselves though. I'm not sure why they don't seem to like the guests.. but it makes what could be an incredible stay, uncomfortable. For digital nomads, they assume you're only working in their time zone from 7am-6pm, and then it is not accessible. Nothing is within walking distance, so it's not like you can walk to a cafe. Which brings me to their coffee. For a place that advertises killer coffee and calls out they are coffee lovers and have coffee stations.... Well... Once a day they put out the big container of coffee/percolator that you can self serve black coffee. Enough said there... The other awkward thing is that shuttles leave at 7am and then 11am to town... So, early or too late for breakfast. ... Right and then the last weird part.... There is a sign that says it's a $200 USD fine if they catch you with outside food. However their kitchen closes and 9pm and the kitchen cannot make any accomodations for allergies. Bar closes at 10pm... Lights out
I’m staying in a place nearby and the owner recommended eating at this hostel. When I arrived, the receptionist claimed I had to pay $10 just to enter, before ordering a meal, even just for take out food! The owner of the place I’m staying thought it was very strange that they tried to charge me and said this is not normally the case. The receptionist was rude and lacked any sympathy (there are no other options around). The place looked dead inside anyway and the location is very remote.
