Although I didn’t stay overnight at the hotel and only stopped by for lunch and a gym session, I was impressed by this place in Popoyo. The property is beautiful and has such a peaceful atmosphere. It feels like the perfect place to work, chill, have good food and relax before surf next door. The food was great and the overall vibe makes you want to stay longer. I wish I had discovered this place earlier and booked my stay here, especially since the rooms are equipped with air conditioning, which is a must here if you ask me :)

I stayed here for 40 days in Jan-Feb 2026. It was my very first coliving experience shortly after starting a life as a digital nomad, and I think it’s going to be the standard by which I rate other colivings from here on out. Keep in mind, you’re in a very remote place in Nicaragua, so it’s a good idea to keep some perspective on what’s realistic, but what the owners have built here is incredible. You don’t have to worry about being without internet when the power outages happen (~avg of 0-1 times per week during my stay) with the solar and starlink backups. And the cowork space is such a well designed, comfortable workspace. I made some great friendships here, and someday I see myself coming back. Even though I don’t surf, I had more than enough to do. I loved using the small outdoor gym, and the social aspect of the coliving is encouraged and managed well. The new community manager Martina is always happy and enthusiastic about her job bringing everyone together. Run club, BBQ Fridays (get the tomahawk 🥩 ), pizza nights, movie nights, and countless dinners out with fellow colivers means you’re never alone and never bored. Not to mention you have a cafe on site (Kooks cafe) that serves inexpensive, healthy, high quality food. Groceries in the area are very expensive, but eating out isn’t bad. Makes me wish I would’ve done more of the latter during my time here. There’s a reason this place is highly rated and you have to reserve a room well ahead of time. Loved my stay at Waves & WiFi.

Spent a few weeks at Waves and Wifi in Popoyo and it’s easily one of the most reliable places I’ve stayed for remote work. Internet was fast every single day and never had a dropped call or anything like that. They have backup systems plus a generator. Even when the neighborhood lost power briefly, the workspace still had internet, AC, and lights on. This was key and why I booked and I had zero issues. The rooms were clean and comfortable, the on-site cafe had great healthy food & consistently good coffee. Renting a bike made getting around simple. The owners were on site daily, friendly, thoughtful, and do a great job creating a relaxed but social vibe. Would absolutely stay here again and recommend it to anyone coming to Popoyo.

I stayed at Waves and Wifi in Popoyo for a few weeks and it was exactly what I needed. The fast internet is legit, consistently over 70 Mbps, with multiple backups plus a generator. Even when the local power dropped briefly, the workspace still had internet, AC, and power. Huge win if you work remotely. Rooms were clean and comfortable, I rented a bike on-site, and the cafe had great food and solid coffee every day. The owners were incredibly kind and created a welcoming, social environment without forcing anything. Easy to meet people, easy to focus, easy to enjoy Popoyo. I’ll absolutely stay here again and highly recommend it.

I used the drop-in coworking space for a couple weeks and can’t say enough good things about it. It was the perfect place to work, set up with all you need — 24 inch monitors, really strong and consistent wifi, and a beautiful environment with nice natural light and greenery. Coworkers were friendly but respectful. Cafe downstairs was ideal for staying topped up with iced coffee, matcha, smoothies, water, etc. Daily morning/ sunset yoga classes on the roof offered the perfect opportunity for nice breaks, and the beach is only a short walk away. If you’re looking for a great place to work remotely, it’s worth planning a trip around W&W!

Here, you'll find an incredible community of expats, digital nomads and travelers. They have a gym, a pool, giant shared kitchen, enormous rooftop oceanview yoga deck, lovely staff, a beautiful on site cafe, moto rentals, clean rooms, organized group outings if you want, AC, Backup generators and a very equipped co working space. Its a bit of a walk to the surf breaks so I recommend renting a motorbike which is super easy and cheap. Audrey is an incredible manager, she literally took care of me everyday and I'm so grateful. I loved the friends I made here and am grateful they allowed me to drop into such a special community. I will definitely be back!

This review is long overdue. I could not have better things to say about waves & Wi-Fi and the people there. My friend and I did a month long trip after finishing university in august 2025 and had the time of our lives. Leo and Jerry did a great job making the place feel like home from the beginning. The rooms are extremely comfortable with full bathrooms. The common spaces are clean and have everything you need to live there full time. The staff are all extremely kind and always up for helping you practice your Spanish. The other visitors became great friends and the community they have is the kindest and coolest I have seen. There were poker nights, surf sessions, game nights, etc. and if you make it to the Friday grill out Leo often suprises everyone with a delicious dessert (banana cream pie is the favorite). There is a reason everyone I talked to was either returning for a 2nd, 3rd, 4th time or plans to (myself included). Leo if you see this thank you and tell everyone Ben and I say hi!

I heard about Waves & Wi-Fi from a coworker back in NYC and decided to book a stay to escape the chaos of the city and hone in my surfing skills. From the moment I arrived, everything was seamless. The check-in process was effortless, and the room (along with the entire property) was super clean and had a great vibe. This place has a uniquely peaceful yet inspiring atmosphere. What really stood out, though, were the people. I met a ton of other guests and now new friends. The beauty is everyone is here for the same reason, to surf, recharge, and enjoy Nicaragua. There’s a shared energy among everyone staying here, like we’re all chasing the same mix of adventure and calm. We ended the week with a barbecue night that made it feel like family. Between the community, the architecture, and the surf, this trip was everything I hoped it would be. I’m already planning a much longer stay next year.

My personal experience living and working at Waves & Wifi, and what digital nomads can expect from this coliving in Popoyo. When exploring a new country, I like to combine the experience with a coliving stay. Why? Guaranteed comfort, stable internet, a proper workspace, and an instant social circle. However, there aren’t that many ‘real’ colivings in Central and South America. After spending seven weeks in this coastal town, I can honestly say that the coliving vibe in Popoyo felt similar to the colivings I’ve experienced elsewhere. There’s a dedicated community manager, a weekly activity schedule, and overall a very comfortable (surf-)remote-work-lifestyle. This is the perfect location for those who want to combine laid-back life, surfing and work. 2026 by Linda  → Read the full post
