Located in the heart of Koramangala, this place makes you productive big time. It is the system they have built with the finest details in mind, right from the libraries to the fine lights to the co-working spaces. And about the rooms, with cleaning everyday & bedsheet change every 3-4 days, it feels like a 5-star hotel with a co-working space where you will get to meet & network many new entrepreneurs every week. I can bet that you can't find a place like that in the entire Bangalore in their price range.
I stayed at Draper House and unfortunately, it was one of the most frustrating hostel experiences I’ve had.
The dormitory design itself isn’t great — the top bunk I was given had the AC blowing fully right at me, with a fan and two bright yellow lights directly above my head, making it nearly impossible to sleep. While the dorm is cramped and the room also felt tight, the main design issue was this uncomfortable bed placement.
Basic guest information was missing. No one explained how the hot water works (though they did not forget to put a prominent notice about AC being available only at night). The storage cabinet had missing shelf and rod. They did not inform me about the under bed storage at all and their kitchen. The whole bed shook on slight movements.
After the first night, they gave me an extra blanket and some hangers, but took the blanket back day after, forcing me to request it again.
For three nights I repeatedly requested to be shifted to a clearly vacant opposite bed. Staff kept denying until I pressed the issue and they finally admitted the guest had already checked out earlier. Even then, they refused to move me, instead blaming me for “not asking every day.” For any paying guest, it should not be their responsibility to chase staff daily for such a basic request.
And oh did i mention - The staff also freely used the dormitory washroom themselves, entering without even knocking, which was intrusive. When I spoke to reception, they said the ground floor washroom was being renovated, but even so, knocking or asking for permission should be basic respect, especially in a shared space.
Even though I was adjusting despite the problems, it was the staff’s rude behavior after I raised my complaint that really made everything worse.
One staff member (Shyam) was rude; another (Mansi) kept repeating the same mechanical line, “we will look into it.” without even looking at me. That was so disrespectful. I think entire staff needs to be trained on professionalism.
The only person who genuinely tried to help was Tanya, who spoke with her superiors and offered one complimentary night. But I told them that after four nights of discomfort and then being treated dismissively, offering just one complimentary night felt like a token gesture rather than true accountability. I told them that if they were genuinely regretful, a guest-centric response would have been to waive the charges for the entire stay — not because of the money, but because after so much inconvenience and disrespectful behaviour, the priority should have been making the guest feel valued and important.
To be fair, the hostel does have positives - it is centrally located in Koramangala with many cafes and restaurants nearby, good hygiene is maintained, entire building is non‑smoking, and offers opportunities to network with entrepreneurs. But these positives do not overwrite the indifference to guest comfort, lack of basic information, and dismissive staff behaviour.
This hostel has been running for years, so these are not “new venture” teething issues - they are long‑standing problems simply ignored because the business model relies on networking appeal rather than true guest care.
If you value comfort, professionalism, and respectful treatment, I cannot recommend Draper House.
My go-to place to stay when in Bangalore. The staff treats the place like their home -- hence the cleanliness, infrastructure and the environment is very homely. Mostly prefer this for any short-medium term stays over any other options available. The attention to details is excellent for the price, from timely bedsheet replacement to electric air fresheners in bathrooms. Karan has assembled a great team and even grander of a vision, exciting to see it in India.
My stay at Draper Startup House was amazing. A comfortable space for both living and working. Met a lot of inspiring entrepreneur minded people. The place was clean and tidy. The employees were super friendly and always ready to help. Don’t forget to meet the Chief Happiness Officer while you’re there. There are many great cafes, restaurants are within walking distance.
I had a pleasant stay in a compact four-bed male dormitory, equipped with both a ceiling fan and an air conditioner. While the fan was available for use at all times, the air conditioner was operated by the staff during specific hours. Each guest is provided with a key to their personal cupboard, ensuring the safety of belongings. The bathroom, which included a geyser, was cleaned daily in the afternoon by the housekeeping staff.
The surrounding area felt very safe for both men and women, with local shops staying open until midnight, adding to the overall convenience. I would also like to sincerely thank the staff for their warm hospitality and gentle nature—it truly enhanced the experience.
What is great stay I had here, truly recommended backpackers hostel. The property is clean and well maintained. Staff is courageous and polite. Location is damn good, just near to main road yet silent inside. Rooms were truly amazing. Common washroom area were cleaned all the time. Co working soace at ground floor is amazing and small group event place at roof top was fabulous. Gates were always locked and can only be opened by the visitors who booked it.
Overall fantastic experience, and would always be my go-to place.
I stayed in the private room for a couple of days and had a pleasant experience overall. The check-in process was very smooth, making it easy to settle in without any hassle. The room itself was clean and comfortable, though I felt having a stool or an extra seating option would have been nice since the bed was the only place to sit.
All the promised amenities were provided, which made the stay convenient. However, my room’s window was close to the AC condenser unit, and the noise was a bit bothersome at times.
I didn’t use the common areas much, so I can’t comment on them, but the minimal interaction I had with the staff was positive—they were professional and polite. The location was easily accessible, which was a big plus, but I do think some arrangements for car parking would be helpful for future guests.
Apart from the pricing of the private room, which I felt could be a bit lower, everything else was good. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a clean, no-nonsense stay where privacy is respected. Would I stay here again? Yes, absolutely!
