🏨 has short staysFine for a workation, but significant turnover works against coliving principles for a cohesive community; a longer minimum stay supports better interactions. What is coliving?
Beautiful places to stay, designed for remote workers.

The location is incredible, right on the beach and walking distance to many restaurants and a small grocery store. I recommend getting a car to explore the entire island. Parking is tricky sometimes but never impossible. The rooms all have a balcony with a great view of the beach and sunset every day. The community was very active, social, and had many gatherings and events. I would definitely stay again.
I enjoyed my stay in the Madeira Outsite. Loved the generous and inclusive community; everyone felt welcome for all outings. My room was spacious and comfortable and had a killer view of the ocean. The bathroom was a nice size, and shower had consistently hot water and great water pressure as well. The co-working space was large with plenty of seating. The kitchen was a bit small for a group of this size, but it was manageable. Location is super safe and quiet. There is really good noise insulation from the outside streets; I was on the second floor and couldn't hear much street noise. I might recommend installing slow-close on the doors, as there was constant slamming of doors that echoed loudly due to all the tile.
The room for improvement: the beds were not comfortable at all, and I didn't sleep well my entire time in Madeira. It was like sleeping on a slab of wood-- very hard, and they were two beds pushed together to make a queen bed, so you could feel the crack in the middle. The pillows were also lumpy and uncomfortable, and the bed sheets were terrible. The fitted sheet came off every time I turned over (which was a lot due to the uncomfortable mattress/pillow situation), so I ended up getting up multiple times a night to try to tuck it back in. A foam mattress topper for the beds would go a long way in increasing the comfort level, as well as investing in decent pillows.
The location is very quiet and relaxing, but note that it's not very walkable. I was extremely lucky to have generous housemates who offered to drive us all for hikes and other adventures, but there are only a handful of restaurants and no shops/bars/etc nearby.
I would love to see an Outsite location open up in Funchal. The location in Ponta do Sol was lovely for a few days, but after a week was a bit too quiet and slow for me.
This was my second Outsite experience, and it truly exceeded expectations. From day one, the community made me feel at home, an amazing group of people who turned the stay into something special. The location itself couldn’t have been better: a former hotel right on the beachfront, with stunning ocean views. Add to that everything Madeira has to offer, lush nature, beautiful beaches, delicious food, and hikes that feel like walking through the clouds. And the week flew by far too quickly. I only wish I had stayed longer. Highly recommended!
My wife and I started our digital nomad journey in Madeira in Outsite. So far we had a great experience. The island is beautiful, also if you're into hiking it's a great place to be. Just know that you need a car to travel to the Island, otherwise it's difficult.
Also, Elisa our host was very welcoming and helped us when we had questions. Thank you, Elisa!
The Wi-Fi is fast and the workspace in the room is spacious. The only downside I can think of was that the kitchen could be cleaner, but maybe this is also depending on the people staying there. Overall great experience.
Staying in Outsite Madeira has been the highlight of my time in Portugal. It was a piece of paradise with an instant community of people that made me feel welcome and we did some fun things together. It was also great to network and share ideas about remote work. I’m so thankful! It was exactly what I needed. Shout out to Elisa who brings it all together so well :).
We had a great stay at Outside in Ponta do Sol. It was the perfect escape from busy cities—peaceful and quiet, but still with a lively atmosphere. The community manager, Elisa, was fantastic: super responsive, helped us with free parking, and even recommended a great local concert series happening during our visit. The restaurants around Outside are also excellent—definitely take advantage of the walkable dining options. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a relaxed, friendly base in Madeira.
Besides the amazing sunset views and the calm aesthetics of the rooms, the real gem of this place is the Community Manager, Elisa! She was very proactive and responsive to any queries. She also organised weekly events for the Outsiters staying to create a sense of community. I really enjoyed my time there and have very fond memories!
