I really enjoy my Staying in Ubud, and I think is also because of the great choice I made by staying in Outpost, the place is super enjoyable to sleep and to work. People are amazing, allways willing to support you or give you any good advice. Judith was a pilar for me during my stay, she gave me such good advice, and organized really good activities. Big shoutout for her job in Outpost!
The location was perfect for me, not to far from city center, in front of Alchemy and with a lot of nice restaurants and massages close by, including rice fields.
Outpost Penestanan was a great base for my time in Ubud. The staff were consistently lovely, friendly and welcoming, and the upstairs coworking area was an excellent place to work. The location suited me perfectly, especially as it is so close to Alchemy Yoga.
I enjoyed my stay overall, but I can’t give it five stars because of an issue with my booking. When my work calendar changed in December, I amended my July reservation through Booking.com. This unexpectedly made the entire booking immediately payable, leaving me having to fund a full month’s accommodation just before Christmas. Although this appeared to be a genuine booking error, there was no flexibility to refund the payment and let me rebook for a shorter stay.
I appreciate that cancellation policies are necessary, but I think this policy—and how amendments are handled—needs to be reviewed, particularly when a booking change triggers a large payment many months before the stay.
Aside from that issue, everything else was very positive. Outpost is a comfortable, friendly and convenient place to stay and work in Ubud, and I would happily recommend it.
Terrible experience.
Despite being more expensive than any breakfast-included hotel I’ve stayed at including much nicer ones, but this coliving space offers only the bare minimum.
I was shocked that there wasn’t even a desk in the room. The room itself was small, dark, and damp, and the towels smelled like clothes after a campfire. The shower only produced lukewarm water, so taking a shower was actually cold and uncomfortable.
The door didn’t fit properly, and the whole property felt run-down. Considering how much they charge, I don’t understand why the maintenance is so poor.
The only reason I chose this place was for the Wi-Fi. However, even if you’re staying in the coliving, you have to pay an extra USD 4 per day to use the Wi-Fi in the rooftop coworking space. That’s ridiculous.
The free Wi-Fi in the room is fast enough, but since there’s no desk in the room, you’re basically forced to work in the coworking space. The problem is that the room’s Wi-Fi doesn’t reach the rooftop, so you’re effectively required to pay for the coworking Wi-Fi if you want a proper place to work.
At that point, it makes far more sense to stay at a cheaper, higher-quality hotel and spend that extra USD 4 on coffee and cake at one of Ubud’s many excellent cafés while you work.
If you’re specifically looking for a coliving space, Nyuh Kuning is a much better option.
I love the location is convenient to other restaurants, mart. The hotel location is not near to busy streets. I don’t really like the room due to uneven flooring, the shower head is too high (even for me 163cm), the room is hard to get sunlight and has the smell of dam. Given the price and it didn’t include breakfast, I would say it is not good value for money. Sound proof is terrible if you have a loud neighbor.
This is a great coworking space for digital nomads in Ubud! The reasons for 4 stars on rooms instead of 5:
- Internet is not secure. I ended up purchasing a VPN to ensure a more secure connection. This was unexpected at a coworking space.
- Ergonomics are lacking. The all glass workspace is beautiful but the high glare is problematic. The tables are much too tall for the chairs they have which leads to T-Rex posture while working which is less than desirable.
- AC only in the silent rooms. This could be a deal breaker for some folks. There were 3 days in the month I was there where there was no available seating in the room with AC.
Great location right across from Alchemy Yoga Center, comfortable room, great wifi, OK amenities. You won't lack for anything, but it does feel a tad pricey for what you get. The fact that there's no desk in the room is a bit surprising, given that they cater to "digital nomads" and laptop workers.
The coworking area being on the rooftop (3rd floor) is probably the biggest downside for me since I got a poolside room. I got the additional co-working pass, but I didn't use it because it rained for almost the whole 2 days of my stay, and it was really inconvenient to carry your stuff upstairs since the path between your room and the staircase isn't covered.
The staff are amazing, all the reception staff were phenomenal, all of them. Very responsive and very helpful. Very accommodating and made me feel so welcomed and made sure I got everything I needed. The hotel rooms are not luxurious but great to stay in , clean and simple. You get free access to the coworking space and that really made my stay easier as I can get some emails and work done easily in a dedicated workspace. The kitchen facilities are also good and makes life easier. Great staff indeed
I couldn’t sleep because other white guests were drinking and talking in the shared kitchen between 3 and 4 AM. That alone would’ve been fine, but it’s disappointing that even after calling the front desk to ask them to intervene and sending two WhatsApp messages, there was no response. I really liked the hotel itself, so it’s a letdown right at the end.
